KAEO: Chaz Williams
The box score on ESPN says Chaz tallied 4 assists tonight. If that's correct, he moves into sole-possession of 3rd place on the UMass all-time assists list, just edging past Edgar Padilla.
He's 80 behind Chris Lowe at the top of the assists list. We have a minimum of 14 games left, and likely at least a couple more as we move in the post-season. If Chaz keeps up his average, of 6.9 per game, #1 on the list is easily within reach.
He also stole 2 tonight, moving closer to Edgar as the leader on the steals list.

I feel like we have been going as Chaz goes. He often times seems to be quiet for the most part of the first 30 minutes, then turns it on in the final 10. I know what he's doing most of the time, trying to get others involved first, but other than today we've gotten off to slow starts lately. Would love for Chaz to come out on fire Wednesday, have a nice statement game for himself and the team.
Hire Matt McCall!
You know, that's an interesting point. The Chaz we see when we are in panic mode late - taking the inbounds and sprinting up the floor, playing incredible defense, going to the hoop like a nut - is pretty unstoppable. If he can handle doing that for a bigger portion of the game, that would be great. We are at our offensive best when we play a million miles an hour.

Exhibit A: The A-10 Tournament in his hometown last year. He brought that "Frenetic Chaz" pace for pretty much entire games and carried us to play above our heads a bit last year. Now that we're much improved as a team, I'm looking forward to seeing him in big Tournament games again playing at that pace, trying to prove to the world who he is and what he's capable of for the last time in his college career. Seriously, if he's right at the end of the year, we're in for a show, and the tournaments at the end of the year are going to be the most fun we've had as UMass fans in a long, long time.Chris20 wrote:You know, that's an interesting point. The last two years, I think we have been playing our best ball in March (save for Stony Brook) and it's been because of this point exactly. Chaz has gone balls to the wall in both A10 tournaments he's played in and I think we all walked away the last two years thinking "that's a tournament team." It's pretty clear Chaz is playing 50-60% of each game at a gear lower than his highest and I truly think he's trying to be as healthy as possible come March. Its easy to do when you are 16-1 and I'd take a couple losses and a 5-7 seed over a tired, hobbled Chaz and a 3 seed, as weird as that sounds.Chris20 wrote:You know, that's an interesting point. He's been a monster in March the last two years, cant help but think he's saving up for another.
