He's a greedy bastard, though.

Cal posted something yesterday about the kid transferring to Georgia State because his dad is sick.

Just checked nbadraft.net, the 2014 mock draft has 6 Kentucky players going in the top 21, including 3 of the first 6 (plus the potential of Wiggins at #1 overall). Absolutely ridiculous...kdogg8173 wrote: I saw an article on ESPN a couple weeks ago that if Wiggins chooses Kentucky, they could presumably have 9 first round picks in 2014.

At some point you have to wonder how it is possible for Calipari to keep all of these guys happy and get them all adequate minutes.
Its also crazy to think that getting ONE of these guys could completely change the course of our future, and get us to the very top of the A10 and into the tourney.
It's nuts, and 3 guys on the team now are talking of returning (which of is course a very fluid statement).DKERA wrote:

Here's the article for anyone interested.

Anthony Davis was a once in a generation type college player with his defensive skills. The kid literally altered half the shots that the other team took. I don't think they will be nearly as good as the team that won the title in '11-'12, but still good enough to make it to the final four or even win it all again.natwam2547 wrote: If Wiggins picks Kentucky they will be better than 2011-2012.

then you obviously haven't heard about Wiggins... Wiggins is supposed to be a better prospect than Davis was. Wiggins would win rookie of the year in the NBA this year. Let alone in two years. He outstanding, will be head and shoulders best player in the country next year. And if he's at kentucky, I wouldn't be shocked to (yes Im about to say this) run the table.DKERA wrote:Anthony Davis was a once in a generation type college player with his defensive skills. Your right I know nothing about Wiggins, and he might be the #1 pick in next years draft, but who knows how he will end up as a college player. The fact that he is "supposed to be a better prospect than Davis" means absolutely nothing to me. John Wall was the #1 overall pick in the draft and a top prospect coming out of high school if I remember correctly? Exactly how far did Kentucky make it with John Wall, refresh my memory?iwearglovesndhat wrote:then you obviously haven't heard about Wiggins... 2 things, one might actually help your point. Big men always transition to the college game better than PGs as freshmen, just nature of the game and Wall wasn't a consensus coming out of HS, Avery Bradely was actually higher on most lists, surprisingly enough. And with Wiggins, and this supporting cast, UK will be nearly unbeatable, so lets hope Wichita takes it home this year!!!DKERA wrote:Your right I know nothing about Wiggins, and he might be the #1 pick in next years draft, but who knows how he will end up as a college player. That may be true, but my main point was that getting a top recruit or several top recruits doesn't necessarily translate to an NCAA championship- Cal has been getting top recruits since he got to Kentucky, but last year was the first year his players meshed together well enough to win the title.Butter wrote: Big men always transition to the college game better than PGs as freshmen, just nature of the game
Also, Wiggins is a completely different player than Davis. Davis was a low post player (4 or 5) that didn't allow anyone in the paint without blocking or altering their shot...Wiggins plays the 3- he could still be a great defensive player, but I doubt he will be as dominant in the paint as Davis was for that one year.
I'm not saying Kentucky won't win the title next year if they get Wiggins, I'm just saying it is by no means a guarantee- we see great teams go down in the tourney year in and year out- and the only way next years KY team can be considered "better" than the 11-12 team is if they win the title.
