Lasme leaves CU
Lasme leaves CU
The Buffs, who lost center David Harrison to the NBA Draft and the Indiana Pacers a week ago, have even more rebuilding to do with news that point guard Mike Lasme, who transferred to CU from Massachusetts in the spring of 2003, has left the program.
"It was totally unexpected," Patton said of Lasme's departure. "We still have Marcus Hall and Antoine McGee, so I think we're in pretty good shape at that position."

Good luck to Mike in wherever he chooses to go from here. Sounds like he's not really sure what he wants to do or is getting some really bad advice. Hope he is able to get things sorted out for himself.

Feato, he loses another year if he HAS completed an academic year or has NOT? Kind of a weird situation, can't imagine it happens very often. Imagine if he wanted to come back to UMass to take over the point when AA leaves. I wonder if that has ever happened anywhere.

Thinking back the last couple years the only situation like this I can think of is Luke Recker who transferred from Indiana to Arizona after playing for two years. He then transferred from Zona to Iowa after his girlfriend was seriously injured in a car accident during the year he was sitting out. He sat out an additional year and then played his one remaining year of eligibility with Iowa, so I would have to think that Lasme would have two years to play starting in 2005-2006.

This pretty much confirms prior discussion on Lasme. It made absolutely no sense when he left UMass and it makes absolutely no sense that he left CU. Its really too bad because he seems like a fine young man who just makes poor decisions with regard to his collegiate basketball career. He could have stayed in Amherst, played ball and gotten his degree. Instead he is looking at his 3rd school in as many years and not having any continuity. Best of luck to Mike, hopefullly he will find his way.
Insert cornball rah rah slogan rhyming w/"Ford" here.
