Why does what he did in '05-'07 matter? If you told the D'Backs in '05 that three years from now he'd be pitching in Triple A with a sub 3.00 ERA in 15 starts between AA and AAA, do you think they'd be incredibly upset? Sorry guru, I know this is a Forbes thread, but stupidity drives me nuts.ShadesOf96and98 wrote:17-17 professional record with a 4.56 ERA. Velocity down to high 80s and topping out at 91. ..............all of which relates to Forbes going to the pros - how?
Sorry for Gary that his name didn't get called last night - hung in to the bitter end hoping the Celts would make the call.
Gary, you're a wildly talented guy - do not give up on your dream. Use this as fuel for the fire. I look forward to seeing you on an NBA court someday soon. All the best.

Llewelyn Moss: Is uh, Carson Wells there?
Anton Chigurh: Not in the sense that you mean.

Here are some of the players that were chosen after Torra that year that have already made an impact at the MLB level....
Travis Buck, Luke Hochevar, Clay Bucholz, Jed Lowrie, Garret Olsen, Chase Headley
All players drafted before Torra that haven't done anything in the Majors. Of course you're going to find people drafted later that have made it.

Awww, stupidity drives you nuts? that's so sad. i really apologize for violating your cradle of knowledge with my ignorance. i'll be sure to tap into your vast baseball intelligence before i ever classify a prospect a bust again, even if i'm pretty sure 91 hits and only 50 strikeouts in 79 innings with a 1.30 WHIP and a 5-5 record at Double A THIS YEAR classifies as not very good for a first round pick in his third year of pro ball.MassMan06 wrote: Why does what he did in '05-'07 matter? And if you're this smart you shouldnt get on VOR for picking and choosing when you chose to highlight six players taken ahead of Torra who havent made it to make your point and there are at least 13 players on the same list who have made the bigs
say what you want in response and then take this to PM if you wanna continue this lame tangent
Once again, after you get out of the top 10 (which puts him roughly in the middle of the remaining 40 players), 9 of 38 players had made it to the Majors by the end of last season. So less than 24% of those guys made it to the Bigs, and yet they set the bar??? Considering Torra is in the same boat as more than 3/4 of that group, I'd say he's not in terrible shape.ShadesOf96and98 wrote:And if you're this smart you shouldnt get on VOR for picking and choosing when you chose to highlight six players taken ahead of Torra who havent made it to make your point and there are at least 13 players on the same list who have made the bigs![]()

I'll follow up on your point in PM.

Some interesting facts about undrafted players in the NBA. Between 1991-2006, 1098 players made their debut while 327 (30%) of them were not drafted

A bunch of players who were not drafted went on to have successful careers in the NBA. It's not the end of the world.
