CAA expanding for lax?
CAA expanding for lax?
There is a discussion on fanlax about the CAA adding teams as soon as next year. Monmouth and Stony Brook seem to be most mentioned. The problem is that the small size of the NCAA tourney usually only allows one CAA team to be there. With an eight team league, trying to make the Dance is difficult and not very appealing.

Yesterday the CAA announced the addition of Monmouth, Stony Brook and Hampton as members for all sports.

Time to pitch the B1G for Men's Lax and Hockey. Only half joking.

So joking about hockey and not about Lax? That sounds like a fair half.
Re: CAA expanding for lax?
CAA has always seemed like a force fit in Lax, unlike us in 1 sport HE.
Not sure that I have an answer, it would be ideal if A10 had enough MLAX teams.
I would not go independent, but it would seem CAA will have more teams for UM to play in the conference and therefore hurt the scheduling of OOC strong teams like Yale. With this lineup, CAA could remain a one-bid conference, and B10 and ACC would gain even more SOS bids.
So, not great for UM.

The regional rivalries are fun and the competition make Hockey East one of the best conferences in the country.
But the B1G is also a very good hockey conference. If college hockey ever gains traction they're the ones who have the resources to fund it. Maybe BU & BC can keep up. But Maine and Merrimack will not. The B1G offers a better home for men's lacrosse and expands relationships that could lead to more buy games for football and SOS building games for men's and women's basketball.

You are a one note pony on UMass into BIg10. It is not realistic. ND is ND, and Blue Jays are a premier brand, lately soiled, in Lax. Other ideas are welcome. Why fantasize, especially where Lax is a bus away, versus flights for B10, all in a little revenue sport.McKinney wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:49 am The regional rivalries are fun and the competition make Hockey East one of the best conferences in the country.

I'm not from Eastern Mass and don't live in Boston so maybe I don't have as many ties to the beanpot schools as y'all. Maybe I'm missing something. I'm not even sure the B1G would be open to associate membership.

The pony's trick is being able to sing, but only a single note.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 8:15 am Isn't it "one trick pony?"

Re: CAA expanding for lax?
So if the pony can hop on one leg, that would make it a two trick pony? The singing is generally a given?

Re: CAA expanding for lax?
Now, if the pony can hop on one leg, sing and chew gum, that's what I call multitasking.

Regardless of which league we are in, we'll always have the neighsayers.

Men's Lax may finally be an A10 sport.
