Re: 2021 Schedule
Hofstra just beat Delaware in an upset. Though Delaware didn't look that good against UMASS. The Gorillas just stunk it up in the second half. Hope the Gorillas bring their A game tonight!
Re: 2021 Schedule
UMass looking good, dominated time on O, up 3 to 0 after 1 quarter.

Re: 2021 Schedule
More even, but UMass still ahead, now 6-2 at the half. Knote excellent in goal.

Slip slidin' away. 6-6

Re: 2021 Schedule
This is hard to watch. Why can't they score in the second half?????
Re: 2021 Schedule
UMass down 6 to 7 - we have had a lot of turnovers and lack patience on offense. We need to pull the ball back and work it around if the fast break is not there

Faceoffs, clears, poor catch and throw, the wheels are falling off.

Re: 2021 Schedule
We lose 8 to 13. A very disappointing season with too much COVID interference and stops/starts.
It'll be interesting to see how we reload for 2022.

Something is fundamentally wrong with this team. Even the shittiest lacrosse team can score more than 2 goals in six second half periods. Not sure what is going on but there needs to be some major introspection. This team was ready to fly into the NCAAs when all those seniors came back. They looked like a JV team at best in the second half (of the last three games). I hate to be so critical but I thought this team would make a serious run in the NCAA's.....we were lucky to even get into the CAA playoffs. WOW!

^ Agree 100% This group never clicked despite all the potential to do so - no idea why that is. There were some curious decisions in terms of where certain players were at various points in the game. It sort of feels like at some point during the season Cannella decided to prioritize getting more younger guys involved and seemingly began building for 2022.... Still - they were dominating Hof early and then nothing in the 2d half which is perplexing and when it happens on a consistent basis you have to question what was said or done to not repeat the same 2d half failures - whatever it was obviously didn't work.
Re: 2021 Schedule
Sometimes 'less is more' and the roster was huge and overloaded with Sr's/grad students. Add in COVID disruptions including lack of games and practices, a mess.
There was also too much 'hero ball' where folks like Trainor tried to go through 3 or even 4 guys. As well, too little patience on O where there was no fast break/uneven positioning by the D, yet answered with quick shots by Gorillas.
Many folks have seen Conolly's early injury as a key factor on O, I buy that.
Overall, Knote kept them in games.
It was clear that the national press expected more, with rankings as high as 13, fwiw.
