Everyone seems to have an opinion on the program lately. Does everybody here even support the program?

My wife and I have had season tickets ever since they sold season tickets. This year we saw every game except the night when the men were playing Xavier on ESPN. And that includes the exhibition game. They are fun to watch and with any luck they would have had a 20 win season. I am expecting big things from them next year.

I can't watch Women's basketball. I wish them the best, but I'd rather watch the puddles gather rain.

I always assumed the same thing, Chris. But I went to one a couple years ago and was pleasantly surprised at the level of play and entertainment factor.

Unfortunately, with season tickets in the two other winter sports, living two hours away, and trying to have some kind of life outside of UMass sports I've never gotten back.

I've always thought that the women's games would be a great place to take young kids though since unlike the other big UMass sports, there's plenty of space for them and you're more than likely not to be next to someone swearing at the tops of their lungs.

You dont have to go to games to support a program. I havent gone to ONE men's game this year because Im out in Colorado and it sucks, but I still support the team. The most support I can lend some of these teams is my interest and that usually leads me to this site.

I've said my piece of Dacko in the past. I covered the team and have seen more games than 97% of this board. Im not going to go through it again, and Im actually interested to see how they do next year.

Marnie Dacko is the greatest coach in the history of basketball. Period.

Was not able to make any this year because I only go to weekend games and had conflicts on this years weekend games. Have gone to one or two for quite a few years.

I got free tickets once. I think me and my wife were one of about 500 people there.

What was it, field trip day? 500 would be a good crowd for most games.

haha. Sorry I thought that was funny. But no there was nobody on the bench side and some people low down that probably had season tixs. They should play there games at The Cage.

Can't do that. They are contractually required to play in the Mullins. Also there would be problems with Title IX about equal playing conditions with the men's program.

I'll take your word for it on the contractual issue. But the Title IX issue is not true.

Syracuse men play at the Carrier Dome; the women play at old Manley Fieldhouse. North Carolina men play at the Dean Dome; the women play at Carmichael Auditorium. Georgetown's men play at the MCI Center; the women play on campus. St. John's men split their games between on campus and MSG; the women play all their games on campus.

Actually SU women now play all their games in the Dome. And just FYI Carmichael is a great arena.

For the record I think the Cage would be a great venue for the UMass women.

I'm all in favor of the men's team playing against an opponent that doesn't draw well in the Cage because I think it would be a cool atmosphere and the place would get loud. It's different with the women. There isn't a fervent fan base that would really get the Cage loud. If the team isn't going to get a boost from the fan atmosphere by playing in the Cage, I think their much better off just playing in front of a mostly empty arena, which is at least modern.

This isn't an attack on fans for not supporting the women's team at all, it's just the way things are.

Do you think the girls would rather play in a completely empty Mullins Center or a semi full Cage. I would want to play in the cage if were a chick on the team.
