Re: 21-22 Season
RI is the best team in the A 10.
Re: 21-22 Season
They look a little tired, they've played a bunch of games lately. Get their second wind and close out strong . After the covid year, getting back to a long season, maybe hitting the wall a bit. They'll be ok

Re: 21-22 Season
I would agree with above that Rhode Island is the best team in the A-10. They should win the regular season, though they play Dayton twice. What a change from a few years ago when we were fighting with them for last place in the conference. I don't agree with the "they've played a bunch of games lately" since so many A-10 teams had those same 2 weeks off. The games are all compressed for everyone.
I've been to every game this year except the Florida and Richmond trips and GW, including away games. What I have noticed in the past two weeks is that Sydney Taylor has either been rolling her eyes or disengaged and staring at the ceiling when receiving feedback from Verdi during timeouts. Yes, I get that he is a strong personality and he can be intense, but that is his style. Taylor knew that when she came to play for him. That type of energy can easily spread through the team like a cancer -- URI used to be pretty infamous for that, you'd just have to wait them out and then could coast to a victory.
I doubt Verdi will do it, but St. Joe's is not expected to be that great of a team this year in the A-10. I don't think it would be a bad idea to give Kulezsa the start instead of Taylor (but still play Taylor more minutes). It worked a few years ago when Verdi was having problems with Hampton-Bey and really helped reset her and turn her around.

Re: 21-22 Season
They've hit a rough patch, no doubt. Just couldn't seem to get anything going offensively and URI was all over the ball and outstretched arms on every pass and shot... they disrupted everything.
I suspect their travel plans are being moved up a bit with this storm coming up the coast, so that might interfere with practice time. But that might give them some time to bond (or re-bond) as a team and hopefully get out of this funk.

Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: 21-22 Season
URI's talent level is significantly better than UMass.
UMass doesn't have the perimeter shooting to attack the URI zone.
UMass doesn't have frontcourt depth to match URI's best players.

Women play at 2 this afternoon for those who want to watch instead of shoveling snow. We barely got a trace here in Mooresville nc.

Re: 21-22 Season
I've always been upset whenever a coach - no matter what sport or level - doesn't give the kids on the bench some minutes. As I write, we are up 25 with five minutes to play, and the starters are still in the game. The Hawk started four frosh and there is less than zero chance that they can come back if me, Berkie and Sign Guy were on the floor. What's up with that??

Re: 21-22 Season
Final score is 74 - 28. The team is going to play it safe and stay overnight in Philly.
You won't get much help from me on the floor as I turned 85 last week and do not run far or fast.

Yeah, I heard when you ran the 100 yard dash you were timed with a sundial!

Cage, I agree. How are the freshmen going to improve if they never see the court? No need to risk injury by playing Breen, Philoxy and Taylor 33+ minutes and Mayo 29.Old Cage wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:38 pm I've always been upset whenever a coach - no matter what sport or level - doesn't give the kids on the bench some minutes.
