Home game against VCU at 2:00 today. VCU is 4-13 and 1-4 in conference. They only score 49 per game in conference play so i would say that this is a game that we should win and possibly get the team going in the right direction.

Looking pretty good so far. Lead 35 - 24 half way thru the second period.

And they hung on to the lead they had built. That has not been happening.

A bit of a struggle vs team with it’s own problems but let’s hope it’s the beginning of some better results down the stretch.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

I'm not sure why I'm so interested in the women's team other than I saw a couple of their early season games (albeit against very weak competition) and felt they might be pretty good. The have 4 gals who could start for most A10 teams. As it turns out they have become very inconsistent on offense and their defense hasn't been good at all.

VCU was averaging around 50 points a game and shooting under 30% from 3 and they almost looked like UConn against us. But we won and that's what counts.

The next two games are on the road against mediocre teams. Davidson is 8-12, 3-4 in conference and not a lot of size. URI is 3-17 , 1-6 in conference. They have a 6'5 center who is pretty good that size seems to kill us. Even with her they only score 56 a game. If we can go 1-1 on the road trip that's a step in the right direction.

I am going to the Davidson game. Only a 20 min ride for me.

Lose in double OT after the usual second half collapse. Team had 29 turnovers and had 4 players foul out. This season appears to be in a death spiral. So much for optimism with the women's program.

Unlike the men's team which has only 2 quality A10 players, the women's team has some talent and a reasonable bench but they are very undisciplined. They commit way too many turnovers and fouls.

Back from the game and we were in control until around 2:30 to play in regulation. Got no breaks from the refs. To start the 3rd period we were called for 5 fouls in the first 3 min. I bet we were called for 10 or 12 charges and I saw several that should have been blocks not charges. After the 4 gals fouled out we really did not have much for offense on the court.

Davidson played a full court press most of the second half and we had a lot of problems running any kind of offense in spite of coaching.

Gals trail RI 28 - 27 at the half. Not shooting very good. For some reason )) Maggie Mulligan started the game and came out early in the first period. Don't know why. Without her we have a serious height disadvantage as the next tallest player for us is Allesch at 6-1.
