My facts are correct. Verdi has gone to the post season 3 years in a row 20-21WNIT, 21-22NCAA, 22-23WNIT. Joanie went to the post season three times 94-95WNIT, 95-96NCAA, 97-98NCAA but not three years in a row.

If you look at previous season threads, a lot of people were calling for his job after every loss.

I hope he stays but can't blame him if he leaves though I get the impression from these articles that they want a younger person who they hope will stay for life.

Joanie O’Brien was a great coach. Made NCAA in 96 and 98. Hosted and beat Stanford. Hosted and lost to UConn. I was at the games 5000 plus at each game.
Got fired because a father of one of her players claimed she verbally abused players. A total joke.
Also top women’s coach was Jack Leaman. Ran the team 1 year while they searched for a full time replacement, guided team to only non losing season in 10 years.
Both heads and heals better than Verdi

One of Berkman’s home townies was involved in the lawsuit
. UMass WBB had a Naismith HOF coach who couldn’t win at UM.

WMMMFAN, look at your post from 3:07 today you stated Verdi "achieved back to back post seasons for the first time in WBB history" at Umass. That fact is incorrect !!!! , Joanie did it ! so your facts were incorrect in that post. How do you explain his 32-44 in conference record his first 5 seasons at Umass ?

are you joanie o??? For the new people on the board, Joanie O was the head coach for a long time until 2003, she had a reputation for being a VERY difficult coach to play for. Believe there was like a 45million$ lawsuit against Joanie for being an abusive coach

I love a good Joanie discussion on here... it really gets people fired up.

Interesting to see how UMass basketball was considered big time, Ah how times have changed.

Does anyone know how the 45,000,000 lawsuit turned out.

An article I found

https://www.capecodtimes.com/story/spor ... 973195007/

"We sued over the physical and emotional abuse she put us all through that she hid, and the athletic department hid," Trent said. When it was ruled she couldn't sue UMass in federal court, Trent opted not to refile in state court.

Has anyone seen any salary info, UMass or Pitt for the Women's BB coach?

This article is a few years old but it mentioned that outgoing Pitt WBB coach Lance White earned $638,930 in 2021. Verdi is earning $382,500 here. Not going to be able to match what Pitt is able to pay.
