Would be interesting if we interviewed Tyler Summitt from La Tech.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

I can't see UMass hiring either Barron or Summitt. I would be shocked if UMass has become enlightened, tolerant, and diversity-valuing enough to hire a white male to coach women's basketball. I imagine the players want the best coach they can get regardless of race, gender, etc., but unfortunately there are still some in the UMass community who are more worried about political correctness than they are about giving the student-athletes the best possible collegiate experience.

Now I will jump back to being a sexist pig and suggest they try to lure Nikki Caldwell away from LSU. Not only is she very, very attractive, she is the daughter-in-law of the actor who played Huggy Bear on Starsky and Hutch.

The fact they haven't signed a coach yet makes me think they have set their sights on an assistant, possibly one still active in the women's tournament.

Barron has a great resume as did Abrahamson Henderson, but as was the hockey search this is being kept close to the vest.

Given equal talent the better coached team will win.

There are a lot of talented teams out there, but few motivate like Geno does or Pat Summitt.

I always think back to my daughter's AAU coach. Those girls would run through walls for him.

What about Morgan Valley?

Played at UConn and won 3 titles.
She has 11 years of work in the coaching ranks under her belt.
Served 5 years with us. http://www.umassathletics.com/sports/w- ... gan00.html
Now on staff with the Washington Huskies http://www.gohuskies.com/ViewArticle.db ... =210265587

Saw an article about her, and sounds like she's not thrilled to be so far away from her family (now in VA, roots in VT).

Big question, of course, is she ready to be a head coach?

And since we're talking UConn products, wonder if we've put a call out to Carla Berube.

She's been the coach at Tufts (D3) since 2002, and has done great work:

Tufts plays for the D3 title tonight

Hartford Courant had an article about her. She says she doesn't want to leave Boston, which is totally understandable, but it wouldn't be a crazy transition to move to Amherst.

^ Coaching at Tufts.......just like Dawley! Shouldn't UM require her to get a D1 job, go to the NCAAs before we ruin her career, too?

Dawley was at Vermont, a D1 program, before she came here.

Let's not forget that Dawley had a good run at UVM. Lower level D1, yes, but there was a reason to hire her:
2008-09 21-12 12-4 (3rd AE) - AE Champions - NCAA First Round Sharon Dawley Stats Roster
2009-10 27-7 13-3 (2nd AE) - AE Champions - NCAA Second Round Sharon Dawley Stats Roster

If they are going the route of hiring an assistant I hope it's Shea Ralph. Who knows maybe Cal could even put in a good word with Gino.

Going for a National Championship at Tufts does not put you in the same rarefied air that one would expect . Since 2010 Tufts has win 14 National Championships, with 3 in 2014-2015. As a Jumbo from my masters, I certainly would like to have my Minutemen approaching those numbers!

Tufts women lost tonight in the D3 finals against Thomas More. After being up 17-11 after the 1st quarter they went on to lose 63-51. I watched some of the game, they were very well coached, but Thomas More just had more talent and made more shots....as one might expect from a team who was 27-0 coming into the tournament and the number 1 overall seed. Tufts has been the class of the NESCAC the last few years over Amherst.
Hire Matt McCall!

It would be smart to go after UConn assistant. Obviously, it would take a miracle to get Dailey so I would think Ralph would be next in line. No reason why Umass Womens cant get back to top tier in the A10/AAC.
