Here is a link to the Athletic Site that has a write up on the incoming from Georgia.

I was at the Official UMass Athletics site...there are only 8 players on the roster of the women's team this year?

^ Thinking you had it all wrong, I immediately went to the women's basketball site. Yep, 8 players, 3 of whom are freshmen.

Including Verdi, there are 4 coaches (2 players per coach!).

Maybe Verdi can find a couple of players in the student body. That way they'll be able to scrimmage at least until someone gets hurt.

Not exactly an auspicious start to Verdi's UMass career.

This could be rather grim. . Couldn't the new staff have brought in a couple of JUCOS to help tide the team over until the upcoming recruiting class arrives? How does a D1 program compete with an octet?
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

They'll have to have some walk-ons. Also, do we have any women on other sports teams that played high school basketball?? We must right?
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

Thanks for your lack of confidence in my ability to count. I mean, I did graduate from UMass. That should count for something.

Verdi and Carvel were brought in at about the same time. The hockey activity vs. the WBB activity is astounding. I understand that it's not apples to apples, but I was expecting more. To be fair, let's give Verdi another year to recruit. If he doesn't hit it big next year the WBB program is probably in for another long dreadful stretch.

In the past the women's team would have a bunch of guys that they would practice against so I am sure that the coach will continue that practice.

Yes. The lady that just got fired had a squad of guys for the team to practice against on a regular basis. A lot of women's teams do that.

Basically every school does that now. If I recall correctly Pat Summitt came up with the idea first.

Anyone know what happened with this player? I thought I saw pictures of her on campus, etc. Plus, she was on the roster last season, but did not play due to injury.

69MG would be a good person that might be able to find out what happened.

^ As far as I know she is still enrolled in school, but not on the team. I have no info as to what happened.
