2014-15
Re: 2014-15
Does anyone know if Yolanda put on a disguise and has suited up for the last few games?
Re: 2014-15
Dawley has never had 5 wins this early in the season. Is this a weak schedule or dare we think that things are really starting to turn around?

You gave me a chuckle. In the past two years they were 3-26 and 4-27. I'm calling it a turn around no matter who they play.MikeUMA wrote:Dawley has never had 5 wins this early in the season. Is this a weak schedule or dare we think that things are really starting to turn around?
Raise the bar, do the minimum.

Agreed. Team just needs to realize it can win. Considering the only player loss last year was Bomben, seems that jettisoning some of the coaching staff and bringing new blood in has done wonders (along with some player losses that may have been a negative influence (just speculating). Maybe this was Dawley's plan all along

Congrats to Cierra Dillard, this week's A10 Rookie of the Week!
Dillard scored a career-high 21 points with four assists in Sunday’s 72-61 win over Holy Cross.[/quote]
Any way you slice it, this team being 5-4 at this point of the season can only be viewed as a positive.
Looks like they're in a tournament in Atlanta this week-end. They're playing the host GA State (4-3) team on Friday and Ohio (6-2) on Saturday.
Bring home the iron, ladies!
See that? Win a few games and the pressure is on...
After scoring in double figures once in her first seven games, the reigning All-Greater Rochester Basketball Player of the Year from Gates Chili has pumped in 21 and 18 points in her last two, both wins. On Monday, the 5-foot-9 freshman guard was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.Jeff DiVeronica wrote:

I see best case scenario is 8 more wins, which would end the regular season 13-15. That would be a great improvement.

Tough loss to GSU just now. We had the ball with a three needed to tie, but turned it over with 4 sec. to go. 66-71.

Another close loss, this time by 7 to Ohio, to fall to 5-6.

33 and 14 for Kim. That's a nice day's effort!

Re: 2014-15
Seems like a different team since Yolanda Griffith came on board in September.
"Yolanda Griffith is one of the best to ever play this game," Dawley said. Simply put, she can play, but more importantly, she knows how to coach. She understands the game of basketball and how to teach it. She has that innate ability to connect with players and we love the positive energy she brings to the court each day."
Pretty amazing what a good assistant can do for a program, eh?

I am sure the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 Dartmouth women share your sentiments after their 6-22 records!Swampy wrote:Seems like a different team since Yolanda Griffith came on board in September.

A bit over the top! The players were in all in place and YG was the last coach on-board, so while I admire your hero-worshiping, its doesn't have any real world connection!
Re: 2014-15
Hero worshiping? That's a quote form Dawley not me so you might want to lighten up Francis.
I would never profess to have your knowledge of the women's hoop team but if you think that Griffith has had no impact on UMass' play this season then we'll just have to disagree.
