2024-25 Season
UMass women had an exhibition game last night. Can't find a word about it anywhere. Does anyone care?
Re: 2024-25 Season
UMass beat Assumption 57-38. Saw the score posted on FB.

I was there. I don't really have deep knowledge of basketball, so I'm a little reluctant to post much, but here are my thoughts, to be taken with a grain of salt.bottom line wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 8:53 am UMass women had an exhibition game last night. We have a lot of new faces and 10 - 11 players actually played, which is encouraging in and of itself compared to the beginning of last season. I was particularly impressed with #10, Yahmani McKayle, our new point guard who is very dynamic. We seem to be a lot bigger than we were last year. Aleah Sorrentino, Megan Olbrys, and freshman Jess Ross all add some length. Chinenye and Stefanie both looked good, and Lilly Ferguson made some nice plays.
Team defense seemed pretty solid. Assumption actually played a pretty scrappy game, so it was a decent test. My biggest concern is shooting. Not that I wanted to run up the score, but we missed a lot of shots, and against better competition this will hurt us. Nonetheless, I think we'll be way more competitive and far deeper than last year. I'm looking forward to the season.

First game is at UMass Cambridge at 8 on Monday on ESPN+, and the men's game is also ESPN+ but at 7, so you can watch some of each.

Final is 71 - 58, we lose.
Re: 2024-25 Season
^ It's hard to win a game when you turn the ball over 34 times. That gave Harvard 18 extra possessions based on the turnover differential and they outscored us 33-14 on points off turnovers. Looking at the box score, we were OK in just about every other category. Clean up the turnovers and we might win a few games.

Talent level has a lot to do with turnovers, so what you really want is for them to get better!69MG wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 5:29 pm ^ It's hard to win a game when you turn the ball over 34 times. you are not going to win any games having more turnovers than a bakery. Coach Mike needs to find him his Sam Breen or coach mike is going to be like Marnie Dacko, Sharon Dowley, and Joanie O
