^ I can still see Bo running up the LF wall to make a catch in the 1989 All-Star game!

^ LS, how 'bout that throw he made from deep left center to the plate, I believe in the air, no hop? Probably the best outfield assist I've ever seen

Back to back hrs from Bo and Wade Boggs to lead off that 1989 All Star game. 8 year old me was going nuts! Back when the All Star game was a huge deal.

^ As far as I'm concerned, it's still the only All-Star game worth watching.

The physical aspect of the other major team sports, basketball, football and hockey means defense isn't really part of their All-Star games. The nature of baseball keeps players honest. Pitchers try to get the best hitters of the other league out. Defenders play D...they're not dogging it. And of course, hitters want to look good...especially against All-Star pitchers.

^ Good point about the baseball all-star games. It's tough to play baseball at half speed. The only overly aggressive play I can recall was Pete Rose barreling over Ray Fosse in the 1970 game.

Here's a link to relive the details about the All-Star games:

Baseball was losing the grit and love in the All-Star game as well until they did something very risky. The winning division of the all-star game received home field advantage in the World Series. Well, it definitely backfired and they got rid of it a couple years ago. I think that the passion of the All-Star game has died in all sports as players now don't want to go all out, they want to use it as a weekend for rest simultaneously.

I agree. Probably one of the greatest pure athletes ever. Power, speed, hand/eye coordination. And one of the better marketed athletes. Bo knows ... everything
Saw this in a FB post about Chuck Connors. https://www.facebook.com/Davenportsport ... 1911174329
Connors is 1 of 13 athletes to have played in both the NBA and MLB. The 12 others to have played are: Danny Ainge, Frank Baumholtz, Gene Conley, Dave DeBusschere, Johnny Gee, Dick Groat, Steve Hamilton, Mark Hendrickson, Cotton Nash, Ron Reed, Dick Ricketts, and Howie Schultz.

Unfortunately Bill Sharman (double hof for basketball) was called up by the Dodges in Sept 1951 but never got into a game

If you can spark up your herb in a noodle, you can make a fire to cook your taters and ziti, no?
