I never knew him personally, but it sounds like he was a great guy. This board is like a family (in a loose sense), and unfortunately we lost a good member. RIP, Kosty. My condolences go out to his family.

Just saw news of Kosty's passing and felt that this was the appropriate place to share condolences. I only knew Matt from passionate discussions on here and a few years of Facebook friendship, but it was clear that he was a wonderful man and father who was loved by many. Our UMass family was lucky to have had him for the time we did and will never be the same without him.

I never met him, but this is terrible news. I had to go check his FB page to put a face to the name and I feel bad for his beautiful family. Only the good die young. RIP Dude.

I, also, never had the pleasure of meeting Kosty. Condolences to his family and it's sad to see someone his age taken from us.

it would be great if they had a moment of silence for Kosty before the game Friday. Maybe at the least invite the family down and have them meet the players, i am sure the family could use some cheering up with something that kosty loved.

As a fan of college hoop and The Karate Kid, Kosty would have loved this take on Grayson Allen last night:

One year ago my friend, Matt Kost, lost his battle against cancer.
My thoughts today are with Janel, Ryan, Hayley and the rest of the Amitrano / Kost family.
Matt - I think of you often. Thanks for a lifetime of smiles.
