Both are Isenberg sport management masters grads:

The Washington Post @washingtonpost
Two women make history as chair, vice chair of NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee

"To the helm of a 20-member committee that studies changes in football rules, chair Sandy Barbour and vice chair Patty Viverito have brought along their voluminous CVs and their crucial good humor. All of it can help when, say, grappling with the regulation of college football roster sizes amid the proliferation of college football transfers."

Getting all those #1 ratings in various areas was getting boring. Now at #2 on the planet, they have something to work for: :)

Isenberg School of Management 4h ·

^ "Starting fall 2022, Isenberg will not allow internal transfers. Those not directly admitted into Isenberg will not be able to transfer in."

That's quite a statement! The article suggests that roughly 1/6 of the undergrads on campus are Isenberg, and that the number would be much higher if the grade-eligible students who wanted to transfer in were allowed to. That, in turn, would drain other majors of bright kids. I guess that tells you one strong area where the jobs are and where the economy is headed.

This is not a new phenomenon as Business and Engineering colleges at universities across the USA remain the most competitive to enter for about 8-10 years, since the great recession. Liberal arts colleges are the easiest to enter at major universities that offer the full suite of majors. This also means that if you are undeclared, you are out of luck for Isenberg. The new path may well be 2 years of CC and then transfer to UMass and Isenberg for last 2 years.

This may mean more well-qualified students entering Economics or Resource economics and taking up more data analytical jobs. The number one major in true liberal arts colleges is Economics, closest to business without having that major.

I have met a number of Econ majors who have a second major at Isenberg or in Math/Computer science, so that option may also be closed out. Unclear on what implications are for minors in business.

Dear Isenberg Community,

Great news! Isenberg’s online degree programs all placed very high in the rankings released by U.S. News & World Report this morning:

• The Online MBA is number 12 among the 358 schools surveyed (up from 26 last year), and ranks 9th for veterans.
• The Master of Science in Accounting and the Master of Science in Business Analytics rank 12th among non-MBA graduate business programs at 206 schools surveyed, and 3rd for veterans.
• Isenberg’s Undergraduate BBA is number 4 among online undergraduate business degree programs.

Nice ISOM event last nite @ the historic BPL.
Excellent presentation in t audio by mega successful headliner. Three other were honored.
Hors d'oeuvres at the reception very good, open bar; a coke for me...
Very different group from the typical ISOM Boston event attendees, leaving me maybe the oldest there, at least among t oldest few.
Lots of great students bussed in with admins.
Met lots of the students, had A+ chats with many, and gave all of them SM quality advice. One of them is on the UM baseball team.
Swami was most hospitable; appreciated it
