Kwik Trip Holiday Face-off Tournament vs. Clarkson/LSSU

Post by bleedmaroon » Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:24 am

I guess nobody got to see yesterday except those who were there, but no matter what, can't blow a 3-0 lead with 6 unanswered against. Was at work, tried to listen and that was impossible.

Two entirely different opponents, but the last time that happened was game two at home vs. Minnesota State last season, by an identical score.

The gloss is seemingly off this team. Missing 2 players to World Juniors, but still. Thoughts?

Nobody has brought it up but some of you hockey experts may have thought about the back-to-back coaching losses (Barr then McMichael) may be hurting this team more than they are letting on!

I'm hardly a hockey expert, but do we see the effects of what you mention now, or down the road on the recruiting trail, or both? There's been a lot of changes with this program at a whole bunch of different levels. A lot of things just aren't the same. And of course some of the hockey bandwagon people have hopped on the hoops wagon. But the fact no thread was posted for this tournament until now speaks volumes. And I'm certain you're on to something with your post.

Fly on the wall here on hockey, but three comments:

1. Not just two top players missing - Reed Lebster is injured and did not dress.
2. On the recruiting, it's probably a combination of the loss of the two excellent guys and the fact that the new guys will need some time to get the ball rolling (if they can).
3. Surprisingly little chatter about pucks on twitter as well.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

4-1 win over Lake State in the consolation. First two goals of the season for Bohlinger, one each for Cameron and Makar, two helpers from O'Hara, and Graham gets the win with 31 saves in his first collegiate start.
