Back to back nights of blowing 3-0 leads. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Yeah, won another shootout but team left valuable points on the table this weekend.

That is for sure. There is good talent on this team, which makes the 10th place position even more of a head scratcher. Where this regime has failed, compared to past UMass teams, is in net. They had to know that the 5 year run of Matt Murray with the help of sidekick Filip Linberg was going to end, seems like we're really exposed in that area. So say the GA in the standings. Even the old more often than not 7th place UMass teams had a goalie that you knew would keep you upright. Brian Regan, Markus Helanen, Gabe Winer, Jon Quick, Paul Dainton, I'm probably forgetting someone, there's always been someone there, until the Mick era basically. I hope someone is in the hopper for next season. Can't believe a program that prides itself on defense would leave such a gaping hole.

Nowhere really to put this, so I'll post it here.

Ryan Ufko got the player of the week award today at the Sports Luncheon. He was asked "How long do you plan to be at UMass"? His answer was "probably one more year". I think that's good news. He's already been drafted so there is/was certinly a chance that he would leave after this year. If Morrow also stays, our D will be fine next year, now we just need to get a couple of guys who can score.

This is the defense that gave up four (4) goals to Vermont last Saturday in the 3rd period and followed that up with five (5) goals tonight at BC in the 1st period …..that defense? That’s nine (9) goals in the past two (2) periods against the #11 and #8 teams in Hockey East.

The goaltending seems to be the issue. Im afraid Pav is not the guy. Need to find the guy or next year will a problem as well.

This is the same goalie that had a shutout in game #2 against Denver and had a 2-0 weekend .

I hope this isn't just dawning on them now. If they had more faith in Pav, you wouldn't have seen the 35-2 games started split with him and Murray or whatever it was last season.

This isn't hard. I'm on the Hockey East site now looking at the 21-22 stats and roster and the 22-23 stats and roster. Look at what this squad lost and didn't fill back in. From goalie to especially forwards. Not to mention braintrust.

This isn't the 16-17 season, but to go from 1 point out of first last season to 4 points out of last at this juncture in just one season to me is incomprehensible, especially with the league being especially weak this season.

Two things:

1. Hope we do not come to regret we gave our coach a lifetime contract. Shouldn't be in almost DFL with a lifetime deal coming off a natty two seasons ago.

2. Heard this was a UMass student who dressed in BC gear at sat on the glass last night. Does anyone think this behavior of sitting in our student section in BC clothes is okay? If this was a hoops game in the late 90's early 00's I am pretty sure the young man would not have stayed.

1) Let’s take a deep breath here. It’s a disappointing season but let’s put things into perspective here. The program is coming off arguably 4 consecutive NCAA bids (or 3 if you don’t count 2020), back to back hockey East tournament championships, back to back Walter Brown awards winners, has had multiple of all Americans (I believe 6 first team, 1 second team), a Hobey Baker winner, two other Hobey finalists IIRC (Leonard and Trivigno), won a Hockey East regular season title, played in back to back national championship games and won one of them. This is a program that historically before this run at the D1 level had 1 NCAA appearance, 0 hockey East titles (Regular Season or Tournament), 0 Walter Brown award winners, 4 all Americans (1 first team, 3 second), 0 Hobey Baker winners, I think one Hobey finalist (Pöck), 0 frozen fours, 0 National Championship games, 0 national titles. Jerry York, Jack Parker, Shawn Walsh have all had down years they missed the NCAAs the very next season after winning a title-never mind two years later. No need to start questioning anything with this current Coach at this time.

2) Um, yes? Hopefully everyone. What other appropriate answer is there? Let the person root for who they want to root for and go to the games they want to. Maybe someone had a friend over who goes to BC and they went to the game together. Or maybe there is a UMass student who likes BC hockey. Who gives a shit? I know personally at least three former BC students who were UMass fans. What do you want, someone to get beat up because they’re wearing gear of the opposing team? If so, grow up.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!

Is everyone so down on the hockey team that nobody cares that we beat Northeastern tonite? We own Levi, the best goalie in the country. Score was 3-2 and give credit to Brady who hasn't played much. He also got an assist tonite.

Might have played spoiler for Northeastern's tournament hopes. Sweep tomorrow might be the dagger for them.

Even with the struggles this season UMass has shown it can play with a lot of quality teams which is why I'm not too down on the program.

Last time we scored five goals, there were green leaves on the trees.

Nope, it's going to be UMass @ BC on Wednesday night.

Nice day for UMass Athletics though pulling the trifecta with WBB/MBB/Hockey all winning.
