I think this is worth it's own thread.

Just talked with UMass men's hockey coach Greg Carvel, who said six players were out with Covid last night vs. Merrimack. Players tested yesterday. Results will be back later today and will go a long way in determining if this weekend's series at Michigan is on.

I pleased to see that both games are on my tv if they happen: Saturday at 5 on the Big Ten Network and Sunday at 4 on ESPNU.

Good luck to the team in this big matchup. Should be a real test to see where the team stands as the postseason comes nearer (#8 in the pairwise). A sweep would certainly change the outlook going forward as would being swept. Hope the team shows up at full strength and shows their determination and grit. GO UMASS!

Carvy was upset with the effort during his post game interview with Brock. Too many odd man rushes for Michigan. Was an amazing atmosphere to be a part of. Sure he will have the team laser focused for tomorrow’s game.

For a team with 30 first round draft picks, Michigan is like a mini NHL team! However, Coach Carvel will always get these guys to play hard . . we'll see that today!

^ It certainly looked like 30 at times yesterday! The real number is 7, which is still over-the-top.

Although with the pronunciation of “Carvel”, I was expecting to see an ad for Fudgie the Whale. Today’s announcers were correct.

Not a great weekend and easy to react poorly to it, but they will be fine. If anything, they will likely utilize this as a way to get better.

Michigan students turned out unlike a UMass home game with a half full arena

Kind of an odd shot to take... UMass students go to Hockey games in fairly significant numbers.
