Three (3) second period goals: MacDonald (1st year) Lopina (about a minute(?) apart, DelGuizo
Lot of Northeastern physical crap not called.
1 bad goal given up by MM in period 3 - so it’s never an easy one.

Here's the writeup (box score not up yet). It was a fast paced, hard skating game. We never trailed and that was important. The Northeastern goalie had a GAA of about 1.5 going into tonight. Another key was faceoffs. We won 69% of them which is way above normal.

It's been a great 2 days in Amherst.

^ Here's the details on the key to last night's win:
Fear The Triangle @FearTheTriangle
Lopina won 16 faceoffs. The entire Northeastern team won 15. Overall faceoffs were 33-15. Possession was a huge factor in the win. Lopina 16-6. Faith 10-2.

I am not really a hockey fan. I just like to check the scores to see how we are doing.

That score is truly astounding! If that continues, there will be changes at Chestnut Hill. I hope UMASS puts a 7 burger on BC!TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 10:51 amThe Hockey East site has info up pretty quickly after games. Like Providence beating BC 7-0 last night!

^ It's even worse than that. I believe the last three games total is 20-4 against. You can watch the first period of this train wreck tonight at 6:30 on NESN before our game starts at 7:30 on NESN+.

And BC loses a couple of players to the Olympics.

The rule book apparently says “as nearly as possible” the ice dimensions should be 200x85 which is NHL. https://www.achahockey.org/wp-content/u ... -Rules.pdf
Mullins Center was build when I was in grammar school so I’m not sure but I think back then they were pushing everyone towards the bigger ice sheet.
It doesn’t really bother me that the rinks have different dimensions when it comes to the width just like it doesn’t bother me that MLB parks have different dimensions down the lines and to center. I could be wrong but I think just about every rink is 200 ft long.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Re: Hockey vs UNH 11/19 & 11/20
The only thing that bothers me about Mullins' rink is that the seats are so far away for basketball. The risers fill up when there are big crowds. But with the thin crowds UMass gets these days, it just adds to its cavernous feel. Same issue I have with the seats at McGuirk.

That also bothers me about the Mullins. I have been hoping at McGuirk, they would take out that side wall on both sides down to the level of a Gillette stadium and add more seats in front. That seems like a pretty easy project to me but who knows.

Both walls are down now. The South End Zone now has a viewing area with bars.

When did they tear down the side walls? Sadly I didn’t make a game this year.
