Tough game to watch. The best thing of the evening was watching the banner be hung.

As for the game, MN State U was ready for us, and took it to us from the get go. They were faster, quicker, and just as aggressive as UMass. They had ~2 times as many shots on goal and really had the best scoring chances. They deserved their 2 to 0 win.

^ Yep, all true. We don't play many teams that are faster than us. A basketball analogy is "who gets to the loose balls". Last night they beat us to loose pucks about 80% of the time.

^ A pasting today! After 1 and a half periods where we were in control(3-0), MS just dominated the puck and SOG's ended 45-21 THATS CONTROL. I don't know how long it's been since we've given up 6 straight but it's a stat that I never thought would happen these days!

It's game related so you're in the right place.

Sunday's game was interesting. We played well for a period and a half, but could not sustain the effort. Slowly, MN State seemly wore us down and took over the game scoring 6 consecutive goals.

i don't know if I've ever seen 6 consecutive goals scored against UMass. MN State certainly proved (to me anyways) that they are a team to be reckned with. They can play a full 60 minutes at speed and with toughness and ability. Tough combination to beat!

UMass lost a lot (10 players) from last year's team, and it's going to take time to get the team up to speed. But, I believe Carel's the coach to do it.

have you just started watching this team? See below, I am sure there are many more. I am sure it is the first time under CGC they have.

I started going to UMass hockey games after Carvel was hired (I think this is his fifth year). He's a really good coach and he's done a great job at UMass.

It’s happened plenty of times. One I thought about while watching Sunday was in 2009. IIRC it was very late in the season UMass scored to go up 3-0 over number 1 BU very early in the game at Mullins. Students started chanting “overrated” and jingling their keys. BU scored 6 straight to win 6-3 and also beat UMass the next night at Agganis. BU didn’t lose again that season and went onto win the national championship game.

Edit- I just looked it up and the next night at Agganis UMass scored in the first two minutes to go up 1-0. Then BU scored 7 in a row before UMass scored very late in the game to make it 7-2. I remember that game as well as but didn’t remember they were back to back nights. That BU team is the best I recall seeing in College hockey and maybe it’s because of those back to back best downs.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but this may be the biggest understatement of the last decade. Yeah, he's a pretty damn good coach alright.
