UMass-NHL news

Post by LS71 » Mon May 10, 2021 10:23 am

My 7-year old grandson loves hockey. He's starting to play this fall. We watched the tournament together and he keeps telling me that he wants to play hockey at UMass. He said his 2nd favorite team, after the Bruins, is the Avalanche, because Cale Makar is on the team. He's still not happy that the Bs didn't keep his favorite player, Zdeno Chára,

We talked about a few of the guys who've made it to the NHL, but I didn't realize how many UMass alums have made it to the league over the years.

There is also that Zac Jones guy.

Cale has started the current Umass NHL defenseman trend. Pock was the player who started it but never did much in the nhl, he was a great international player. Braun, Irwin, and Montaur have been solid veteran guys and Hanley got a cup goal last year. Ferraro and Jones have the potential to be all stars. It’s going to be interesting to see their careers develop.
