Unfortunately, Filip is going onto the pros with Minn. Wild - no contract announcement yet.

Maybe the Wild they only have his rights until the end of the month, if they don't sign him he becomes a free agent.

I hope Lindberg signs somewhere he can get a chance to play sooner rather than later. I look forward to seeing what Murray can do now that he’s probably the de facto number 1. I know they have a freshman coming in but I’d think Murray would be the game one starter. Here’s hoping he goes on a run like Lindberg did this year.

He's actually not signing with the Wild. He'll be signing elsewhere in July.

Well, hopefully, he lands well - he was terrific this last year.

Absolutely. I presume he has a plan taking this step so I believe he'll land well. Hopefully the Bruins, even!

Kid was a stud... fortunately we still have another stud in net!

Announcement from UM Hockey on Taylor Makar:
https://umassathletics.com/news/2021/6/ ... 21-22.aspx

I hope he doesn't put too much pressure on himself and I also hope we (the fans) don't have unrealistic expectations. There's only 1 Cale Makar.

From the above link we read that Taylor had the following stats:
"Makar played 104 games over four seasons with Brooks, totaling 61 points on 17 goals and 44 assists. Serving as captain for the Bandits in 2020-21, the Calgary, Alberta native logged 19 points (5g, 14a) in 16 contests and had 63 penalty minutes."

My question is whether that is a lot of penalty minutes last season (just under 4 minutes in penalties per game)? I can live with an enforcer, especially when he's contributing right around one point per game.

Edit: here are the NHL penalty leaders, so yeah, he'd fit in.

They're basically keeping this year's tournament format by inviting everyone and making it single elimination throughout. Seems to be getting negative reactions on social media cause of the lower seeds having a better chance in this format of going all the way. But the interesting thing is 2019 with 8 teams and a best-of-3 quarterfinal and 2021 with the single elimination format both had a 7 seed making it all the way to the final game (and incidentally a 3 seed winning it both times, although you could argue the seeds weren't correct with the silly HEPI). So I actually like the format.

I like single-elimination tourneys. Increases the chances for upsets and makes the tourney more interesting.

The schedule is out. What a way to start - 10/2 at home against frozen four team Minnesota State.

The Derek Kellogg series: Home vs LIU, Feb 4 and 5
LIU is D1, but this will be only their 2nd year of existence. They're independent, and went 3-10 last season.

At UConn in Storrs on Feb 18, probably for the last time at Freitas Ice Arena. Their new arena is supposed to open in Fall '22.

10/3 game vs Minnesota State is the same day as Brady vs Patriots
