Just a note on the vaccine timing mentioned above:

Spring is almost certainly too early to be available to all. Might be able to cover frontline workers by then (although we're still waiting on the actual scientific release of the Pfizer stuff, so far just the press release). Big thing to remember: everyone needs 2 doses of it for it to be effective, and they need to be 3 weeks apart from each other. So when they say "50 million doses by X" that really means 25 million people can potentially have both doses by 3 weeks after that point (and would then need to wait another ~2-3 weeks for it to be effective).

Something tells me DI hockey isn't high on the priority list for who will get them shots.

edit: of course I say "mentioned above" and then end up as the first post on a new page.

UAA cancelled their season. This was gonna be their last as they were cutting the program anyways, so RIP Seawolves.

By my count I believe we are up to 8 of the 61 teams that have said no thanks to playing so far.

RPI is not playing this season. That’s 9 teams-about 15% of a very small D1 hockey pool.

WCHA probably stronger without dealing with UAA as they’ve made it very clear they don’t want anything to do with flying to Anchorage anyway. AHA has a scheduling agreement with LIU so they basically cancel out the loss of RIT I suppose. Could always just make LIU a member for this season only if they wanted to.

On the other hand, ECAC is falling apart. Only five teams (Clarkson, Union, Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence and Colgate) left. IF, and I do stress the IF, Hockey East wanted one of these teams to get to 12 long term (and I’m not convinced they do want any of them), now might be the time to take their shot.

Over on USCHO they’re saying the UMass game at BU will be played at Walter Brown. Makes sense. Why open up Agganis if no one is gonna be there? I’ve never seen a game at Walter Brown so it would have been nice to be able to go. Oh well.

Makes me wonder if UMass should/will use the practice rink for games? Would it be cheaper than playing in the Mullins Center?

Is the practice rink set up for tv though?

I don't care if we play on a pond, as long as I can see it.

It’s a good question. I don’t know the answer.

Union cancelled their season. ECAC down to four schools. One of them might get an autobid just by being the last to cancel, assuming there is an NCAA tournament :(

An incredibly idiotic situation in Orono. How can they possibly not be ready with the amount of lead time they had. I hate calling anyone names, but their AD must be an idiot.

I heard back in the late 70's, early 80's before they discontinued hockey, they sometimes practiced on the campus pond 'cause we had no rink. Anyone verify that?

Floyd - Long before that, well before my time and before the Orr Rink at Amherst College, they played GAMES on the pond.
