Re: 2020-2021 Season
Love seeing the schedules coming out!
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: 2020-2021 Season
Of course, hockey and football are playing at the same time on the 20th. After no UMass sports in forever. Argh!
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
Re: 2020-2021 Season
Reviewing the schedule, the front aspect has a lot of TV coverage, but a little later on. Hopefully, this is just a timing issue, as schedule just released and so many winter schedules not released yet.

Re: 2020-2021 Season
I think HEA said something on Twitter addressing your concern. More TV games to be announced I believe.
Re: 2020-2021 Season
They also said free stream this season.
Re: 2020-2021 Season
I wouldn't expect as many TV games in the 2nd half. NESN will have Bruins and college basketball (hopefully some of our games). Nice to see all of these games on TV but this is replacement programming for them right now.

Nesn+ is always an option.
Re: 2020-2021 Season
Two ESPN analysts rank UMass in the Top 10 pre-season.

ECAC schedule still up in the air, probably due to Ivy delays until January.

Re: 2020-2021 Season
Ivy League reportedly cancelled all winter sports including hockey. ECAC is a mess.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.
Leave the A-10!

Re: 2020-2021 Season
Confirmed through Cornell, alma mater number 2. No winter sports. And no Fall sports in Spring '21. And nothing happens in Spring '21 sports competition until at least the end of February, although 'safe practices' are allowed.
With the Ivy League’s decision, it leaves ECAC Hockey with Colgate, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, RPI, St. Lawrence and Union to possibly participate in the upcoming hockey season.

A mess is right.

Possible turned into certain quickly.UMass02 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 2:48 pmIf the Ivies don’t wind up playing this season (which is possible), it’ll be an incredibly limited schedule for the remaining ECAC schools. Maybe Colgate, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, RPI, St. Lawrence, and Union wind up playing each other four times to have a 20-game schedule.
It sounds like Hockey East will have a 20-game conference schedule with two games against each team.
Re: 2020-2021 Season
I dunno if they will play a season in ECAC. Most see themselves as NESCAC and Ivy brothers, separated by a few points on the SAT.
My bet is that ECAC folds their winter sports, either proactively or as COVID unfortunately spreads. Same could be true for all the college conferences in hockey, bball, etc.
FYI - Youth hockey travel tourneys now have real limits and needed the soonest proof of negative test.
"Hunker down and see you in 21-22" might be the outcome slogan across most sports. SAD.
HEA has a plan, but it could be very well disrupted. Some schools are already saying no fans in stands. And what happens if COVID hits a team, perhaps as what we are seeing in SEC and Big 10 in football?
The virus vaccine shot for COVID cannot come soon enough, but it might be until late Spring available to all.
And since there are so many naysayers on vaccines, will colleges open up to the general public attendees if not vaccinated? Colleges CAN mandate vaccines for entering/contiuing students.
Lots to sort through. And little time.

Re: 2020-2021 Season
Several of the ECAC members that aren’t full-fledged D1 members have shut down other winter sports, so it’s conceivable that they shut down hockey. This probably forces their hand in that regard.
