Conor Sheary will make his NHL debut tonight when the Peguins play the Bruins at the Garden. Pretty cool that the Melrose native can play his first game in front of friends and family.

Sheary 1-1, Vatrano - HAT TRICK!!!!! Congrats. NESN has been great in promoting the UMASS boys.

Penguins have some real problems, Bruins are rolling over them 6-2.

Are these events a UMass-NHL milestone, 2 UM scorers in the same game and 4 goals for UM peeps?

Conor Sheary gets some love on SportsCenter this morning after scoring for the Pens last night, and we get a mention.

UMass' has put some great talent into the NHL in recent years. Hope it continues and pays dividends on the recruiting trail.

Looks like one of the hockey team alums will be raising the Stanley cup.

CONOR FREAKIN' SHEARY!! Game-winning goal to put the pens up 2-0 in the series. Also not to be forgotten, Justin Braun scored the game tying goal late in the third for San Jose. Of the eight goals scored in the SCF so far, three of them have been scored by UMass alums. That's unreal.

On ESPN's Top Ten right now, Sheary is "The pride of UMass hockey."

Jon Quick might have something to say about that but nonetheless excellent showing from Minutemen in the NHL so far in the SCF.

^ Remember, Jon Quick left after two years. While Quick has obviously been a good goaltender in the NHL, either Justin Braun (one of my favorite Minutemen, btw) or Connor Sheary deserve the moniker of the "Pride of UMass hockey" more than Quick for having actually graduated from UMass!

Agreed that it's been a fun SCF so far.
