I guess it just depends on how you look at it. I do remember Jon Quick left after 2 years since I got to see him play and he might be my favorite UMass athlete I saw in my 4 years there. He was dominant.

While I think we all would have loved for Quick to have a UMass degree, he would have been a fool not to make the jump after the season he had. He is a 2x Stanley Cup champ - including the Conn Smythe in '11-'12 - silver medalist for the US in 2010 and 2x Vezina finalist (including this season, although he's not gonna win it this year either). Sheary is following up a good season by having a good postseason. I hope he continues to build on this and maybe he can approach Quick's accomplishments.

No point in arguing, I guess I just don't hold it against players the same as others do for jumping at the chance to play professionally before they graduate. I don't mean that to sound as dickish as it does.

This seems like a pointless argument. They are all the pride of UMass (not just hockey).
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

Pens win 3-1 and claim the cup. Sheary with an assist on the second goal. He also got a penalty for hooking Justin Braun.

Old Cage mentioned that the goalie coach is also a Umie so there's that to add to the kudos.

Sucks because he was having a great season (42-17-18-35).

Side note, nice to see Matt Irwin having a solid year in Nashville (46-3-8-11, +16) after being dropped by San Jose and the Bruins.

Other UMass players in the NHL:
Frank Vatrano (21-6-3-9)
Justin Braun (53-2-5-7)
Quick (injured)
Montour (6-1-0-1) (scored first goal recently)

Nice re-direct by Vatrano.

Pittsburgh Penguins‏Verified account @penguins 4h4 hours ago
He's back for more! The #Pens have re-signed Conor Sheary to a three-year contract with an AAV of $3 million.

Nice article on J. Quick and his comeback this year.

Sheary traded to Buffalo.

At least he got to play on a winning team in Pittsburgh.
