Nice interview just now on NBCSports channel.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

I am surprised that with all of the notoriety and publicity Quick has gotten it hasn't seemed to help our hockey recruiting at all.

^That's hard though. Aren't the best players in hockey recruited when they are like 14-16? How many people who are on the roster now were that age when Quick first won a Stanley Cup?

The time to capitalize on Quick's connection to UMass would've been immediately after he won the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe. Especially since he specifically mentioned the school and Toot Cahoon in interviews immediately after. Instead a little over a week following Quick's big moment Toot resigns amid rumors of lack of support from the AD, who proceeds to launch an embarrassing and poorly executed search for his replacement.
Yeah, I wonder why the publicity from Quick hasn't paid off more for the program.

I said it in another post, I'll say it here: if it wasn't for Quick and Pock, this program would be a black hole for the past two decades. Everyone wants to blame McCutch - how do you explain 1993-whenever he arrived?

"Has UMass ever had more popular former players working as coaches? - Derek Kellogg, Lou Roe, Liam Coen, Marcel Shipp, Danielle Henderson"
Does McCutcheon get credit for ANY of these hires or is it only further proof that he hates the hockey program? Inquiring minds want to know.

You are right, pay no attention to the inept hockey program behind the curtain. I give him credit for Kellogg. Roe is not officially a coach as far as I know, and the others are brand new and have proven nothing. I guess we can give him credit for remaining loyal to popular alums who were great performers when they were at UMass. At the same time, if you don't think the Dawley situation is a joke, the Morris situation was a joke, the Molnar situation was a joke, or the way the hockey coach search was handled was a joke, I just don't know what to say. My hope is that with the a whipple hire he has turned the corner. See you Friday!

Uh, that's not my quote, just saying and I'm not giving him any "credit." I'm asking a question which you answered quite succinctly.

Quick was outstanding today, too bad the rest of the US team wasn't.

Reviving a Jonathan Quick thread.
Happened to have the NHL Network on tonight and they switched to the start of the Kings game. They mentioned that with tonight's start, he has now started more NHL games than any other American-born goalie.

Quick with the start vs the Bruins tonight. Let up a soft goal early to Debrusk. Pregame show talked about how he’s 3 games from 700. Really impressive career and having a nice bounce back season this year. Kings are at Boston next Monday, could be 700 but he does spilt time with Peterson. And debrusk just put another one past him while typing this.
