Congrats to PC’s goalie coach Bruce Irving on his son’s commitment to Umass. Makes for a good little in-conference rivalry within the family.

Maybe he doesn’t want to play for his dad? There are at least two examples of this in college hockey I can think of off the top of my head: Coach Sanderlin of UMD had a son played for Minnesota State and closer to home I believe Scott Crowder’s dad was the head coach of Northeastern when Scott was a Minuteman.

Edit: I looked it up and I was off by a year on Scott Crowder. He came to UMass in Fall of 2005 and his dad stopped coaching at Northeastern in Spring of 05.

The Gazattenet has a story about the team, picked 8th in HE. First game is Oct 7 against AIC. Michigan later in Oct.

Hockey on the brain:
I got a call to renew my season tickets (), so I took a look at the roster , don’t know when it was posted, but they issued #16 !! First time since the 2019 National Championship game. They did not use all of the numbers from last year if anyone offers that Adidas only has certain numbers…..WTF
Also #29 DeDobbelaer is on the roster again and has only played two (2) games in two (2) seasons and there have moments when defenseman have played forward due to injuries ……is there a story here?

This has been discussed widely on other platforms. Apparently Cale has indicated that he doesn't want to hold/keep the number and it is free to be used by someone else.

Whether you/we agree with the program/school giving it out, that's another story.

I suspect what you'll see when it comes to honoring Cale is that his name will go into the rafters rather than his number. I prefer the Name & #, but that's just me.

ha Michigan ticket price like NHL. (better games more $$) all good. have mine for Friday and Saturday. I love the double headers in Amherst since i come from 5hrs away.
Looks like the Bill will be packed. Need to bring some of that mid west energy to the stands
