New user registrations
Re: New user registrations
^ Yep, that's my fear.
Let's see how much of a problem the open door becomes.

A few sneaking through. I wouldn't mind the doors being locked up again

^ Yup. Too many weird things for my taste.

I'm all for good porn, but my penis is fine, thanks and I really don't think I can make six figures working from home part-time.

Re: New user registrations
Just want to bump this thread. I feel like it's gotten worse. Not that I mind scrolling, but man, it's quite annoying to have to do this just to find a thread. Thanks in advance.

Not going to tell you how to run the board Mike because you do a great job but I’d lock it up. Don’t want to see your two decades of great work destroyed by spammers.

If anything, I would suggest making 1 or 2 active folks here moderators and give them the power to delete posts.

Yes, please lock the door! And just after Mike did that great podcast and I made the case that the board is still superior to twitter for hoop discussion.
Re: New user registrations
I can't remember if phpBB is one of them, but there are multiple board programs out there that allow you do simultaneously ban someone and delete all of their posts in a single go. If you're able to do that then this would allow for some pretty easy cleanup.inthescoop wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 1:05 am If anything, I would suggest making 1 or 2 active folks here moderators and give them the power to delete posts.
I'd say with his previous comment about he's falling behind on requests to get people in, getting some other people (or even just starting with 1 other person) on the staff to help out with that would be best, even if he does lock it down again.

Re: New user registrations
Can someone get to him on Twitter to see if can promote some people to deal with this terribleness?
Re: New user registrations
I and several others have reached out seemingly to no avail - oh well. Will have to navigate the land mines for now.

This new Russian UMass message board is quickly becoming unreadable. I hope that something is done about it soon.
