Characters in the signature

Post by chuff » Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:55 pm

It's a little thing, but I like to reduce the size of the signature font. So I typed this in:

There are some people that if they don't know, you can't tell 'em. Louis Armstrong

Word tells me this is 98 characters with spaces. There's a 100 character limit on the signature. Yet I'm told the signature is too long. How come?

If you don't know, I can't tell you.

I'm stumped. All I see in my admin screen is the setting that limits it at 100.

It may possibly be because there has to be a HTML tag in there to make the font smaller.... which would put you over the 100 character limit.

No - the count is with the bbcode tags. Without the tags, it's 82 characters.

But does it work with the tags not included (at normal font size)?

Yep. Don't understand why you can't use the tags, though, as long as the signature including them is under 100 characters.

Well, either way, the tag is the issue. Must be a coding thing.

Obviously, but let's clarify the rule. "No more than 100 characters, and no bbcode tags."

Mike might not even have known of that, or it could be a bug. Good luck!

The board software is more or less "out of the box". There's not a lot of additional customization I can make.
