Is dropping to D2 a legitimate option? Not ideal but not sure what else to do besides drop it completely.
UMass Lowell is 5-20, 0-6 in conference. They stink too. D1 baseball is hard to compete up here.

D2 is not an option for UMass. They're a D1 program, can't sponsor a varsity sport at a lower level. Dropping it entirely is the only way they could do it
Lowell is having a tough year but at least their program is fully scholarshipped or probably close to it. UMass' is going to be operating with zero pretty soon

UMass Lowell bought the former Lowell Spinners field last year and are supposed to be updating it.

Lowell sorta has to keep Baseball an important sport with their MLB connection, which I assume is still an active partnership.

Baseball finished with a win vs Dayton, number 14 on the year where they started the season at 2-0 for a final record of 14-34!
Softball (which has full scholarship) finished 1 full game better at 16-34 with second year Coach Henderson.
My point, a one gam difference between a team with FULL scholarship vs a team with 1, doesn't make sense!

^Baseball plays other teams with low scholarship numbers, as more than half of their wins were out of conference against weaker teams. Softball plays a much harder schedule.

^ Danielle has got two years in now and I haven't noticed any up notch in talent, so this is disturbing. I know baseball plays a weaker sked and that's why they had 14 wins, but to say the A10 is that much stronger is a stretch in a one bid league!

^I agree that there has been little, to any improvement. Softball's out of conference schedule is much harder than the baseball teams: FSU, UGA, UCF, OSU. All A-10 softball teams have full scholarships; baseball teams don't.

The baseball program has been announcing their incoming class over the last few weeks. Looks like they have 9 transfers, including a couple from Power 5 conferences (Pittsburgh and Wake Forest) along with Navy, East Tennessee State, and Bucknell. They also have 10 freshmen. Looks like a huge incoming class, so should be a new look team this year
