Any baseball people on here? I’m going to casually follow and try to watch a game or two if they broadcast on ESPN+

Losing to CCSU can't be encouraging on any level. What are the aspirations for the baseball program anyway? To be competitive in the A10? I know scholarships are pretty limited.

They have 1, maybe 1.5.

Baseball is in a dire situation, which is extremely sad.

The last I heard officially from someone in the department baseball had 1.0 scholarships, and recently the word was that they were up to 2.0. Frankly I'd be shocked if they have 3.5 considering that would be a significant increase to a program that has been irrelevant for a very long time.

Very dark days.

What's even the point of supporting the operations if we only have one scholarship? It's essentially a rec league team against Division 1 competition.

Wow, didn’t realize it was that bad. That’s sad to hear.

It is time to start increasing scholarships to baseball. It is hard to believe a program that was very strong through the 80s and 90s absolutely blows right now.

Sign of the times Steve. Tough to allocate funds toward baseball in the northeast nowadays.

Looks like pitching coach/recruiting coordinator Nate Cole has left for Harvard. Interesting to see who they can bring on to replace him. Pitching has long been the issue from the program, namely because they mostly recruit in the Northeast.

And looks like they actually picked up Steve Adkins for that role. Steve was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Siena and Fairleigh Dickinson prior to joining the UMass staff.
