Heather MacLean

Post by Old Cage » Mon Feb 01, 2021 10:15 am

Yesterday:

Fast Women @fast_women ·19h
Heather MacLean wins the Blankenship Women's Mile at the second American Track League meet in a world-leading 4:27.54. She had an impressive kick from the front.

("MacLean concluded her UMass career as the holder of seven individual school records and a share of four relay records, three New England records, and two A-10 records. She was a three-time All-American in track and cross country, an eight-time New England champion, and a 10-time Atlantic 10 champion on the track.")
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

wonderful article. Wonder when the Olympic trials are. It would be great to watch her earn a spot on the team.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

preliminary round for the women's 1500 is today. Heather is in heat 3 of 3. The top 6 of each heat, and the next 6 best times from the 3 heats advance to semi-finals.

Amazing times. A 4:27 mile gets me winded just typing it. Go Heather!

I saw her interviewed briefly last night. Yesterday she ran second in her heat and 7th overall. She runs in the semis @ 9:40 eastern tonight on NBCSN.

UMass alum Heather MacLean was tripped twice in her 1500 semifinal at the Olympic Trials. She stayed on her feet but finished 13th, out of the 12-runner final. But officials reviewed her being bumped and granted her a 13th spot in Monday’s final

(I watched live. She was finished seventh in her heat but possibly would have made the top six to advance if not tripped.)

The final is 8:05 Monday eastern, I think on the main NBC channel.

Outstanding! She ran a great race. The announcers never mentioned her and she showed them that they should have.

Fantastic for Heather!!! An Olympian!
That first 20 yards of the start of that race was like a Rugby match!!!
Very tough going in the crowd! Great Race. No mention or closeup of her before the race.
She showed 'em!! Go Umass. :D
