Always enjoyed his coming to the sport luncheons. Enjoyed listening to him and his stories.

Word on campus is that he was forced out and that the following opening came about because the former sport psychologist was fired after had taken up the cause Jim's athletes who were trying to figure out what happened.

Yes, it does. Jim Helling is the sports psychology guy that supposedly got fired. However, that Dietz was forced out doesn't surprise me as his salary was pretty high (mostly because of his longevity) for a coach of a non-revenue sport. Moreover, members of the women's rowing team were pretty dismayed when it happened as Coach Dietz gave no indication he was going to retire without finishing the year. It would make for a good investigative report for The Daily Collegian.
