Fordham ended up losing to UNC 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Final 4 is UNC vs Indiana and Stanford vs Akron.

Just posting this here as it relates to Fran O'Leary. If you've never heard Fran speak, it's worth the effort. He's from Dublin, has that Irish wit and a lot of Irish expressions. I think he came to the states in 1985.

At the sports luncheon yesterday he talked about his background and a lot of soccer stuff and how he didn't understand American football when he got here. Here are 2 of his best quips:
I was watching an NFL game and the team had 4th down and 4 inches. They did a QB sneak, made the 4 inches and everyone went wild. I thought to myself, what kind of game is this when you get this excited about advancing 4 inches.
He commented that those at the luncheon were blessed to be eating at the #1 campus dining in the country. One of the entrees had a bunch of broccoli and George hates broccoli. He said, even the #1 dining can't make broccoli taste good. Jesus couldn't even make broccoli taste good.

UMass had its first 10+ win season since 2017. They finished the regular season ranked #20 in the country.

They're the 3rd seed in the A-10 tournament and will host St. Louis Saturday at 1 pm at Rudd Field. The game will stream on the +!

#6 St. Louis upset #3 UMass in a shoot out after 0-0 tie in regulation and two 10-minute OTs to advance to the A-10 semis. St.Louis scored on each of its first three shots while UMass went 0-3.

An at large berth in the NCAA’s is still a possibility.

UMass is in the NCAAs for the first time since 2020.

They host Evansville at Rudd Field in round 1 on Thursday at 1 pm. I’m guessing it’ll be on the +

Winner takes on #6 Penn Sunday at 5 pm.

4 schools from the A10 made the tourney. Great showing for the conference.

Also, 4 A10 Men's Soccer teams make the tournament (Dayton, UMass, Saint Louis, Fordham) while the regular season champion misses out (George Mason, by virtue of their SoS)

When you see this, you will know why Hughes may be the best soccer player in school history. Enlarge to full screen to appreciate it.
