Excellent. Tim is a friend. I am happy for him.

^ Likewise.

The kids in Burptown are losing a great coach but maybe JJ can take over and keep things headed in the right direction. :)

Congrats to TK! I'm happy for him that he's getting the top job at St. Bonaventure. Looks like we need to start a UMass-to-A-10 AD tree!

Article about Tim Kenney's press conference today at St Bonaventure. Like some other expressed I thought TK might be handed the reins over at Boyden and be our AD. Good luck buddy!

I'd call this surprising news:
Andy Young

St. Bonaventure has decided not to renew the contract of athletic director Tim Kenney. It was set to expire May 31. Decision on an interim AD will be made no later than June 1.

Nothing today from the local Olean paper, but Buffalo has something
https://buffalonews.com/sports/st-bonav ... db2f7.html

Kenney's Bona bio, before it comes down
https://gobonnies.sbu.edu/inside_athlet ... y?view=bio

Is it safe to say that men's hoop is the gem of Bona athletics? If so, they certainly weren't his problem. Led directly by Schmidt, Bona MBB won two league titles, an A10 tourney championship, two NCAA and one NIT bids in those six years.

Did Schmidt's contract get renewed during that timespan? I'm surprised that he hasn't gone to greener pastures, so Kenney might have had something to do with that.

Bona WBB has been down since 2016 when they lost their coach to Providence.

Lacrosse: Kenney helped bring their men's program back to life back in 2019. They play in the MAAC while the women are A-10.

People who follow @SBUnfurled are speculating it may also tie into the university also looking for a new president.

Frankly I am shocked.

It seemed to me he was doing a good job - especially with Men's Basketball.

Maybe they could no longer afford his services? Probably looking to slash their athletic budget after covid like a lot of schools.

He was only making $165k or so, pretty short $$ in the AD realm.

Lots of small colleges are having trouble enrolling students, so perhaps they are evaluating sports spend.

Welders make decent money. Can't the alums pick up the pace of their donations?
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
