2022 Game 4: Temple
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
It will be worth it, or at least they’ll break even, when the A&M sacrificial lamb check clears.

They're going to have to hope for a huge LGBTQ turnout on Pride Day against Liberty or they'll have a hard time matching the Stony Brook attendance.

Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
Are we ever going to win another game? Not if we continue to use a running QB. Time to give up the run and work on a pass offense. If I was still living in the Berkshires I would not have season tickets and would not got to any of the 3:30 games. I don't drive after dark and it would be very difficult for me to drive the back roads to the Berkshires. I feel for you guys that have season tickets and have an hour or more drive to the games.

Its also Band Day so the attendance will be inflated not matter how many LGTBQs or evangelicals show up to cheer on their respective teams.

My favorite promo day! Hold those HS musicians hostage at a UMass football game and count them towards the attendance figure...LOLdennisdent wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:49 pmIts also Band Day so the attendance will be inflated not matter how many LGTBQs or evangelicals show up to cheer on their respective teams.

That's a double negative but i'm going with: DB has improved our D.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 4:46 pm Offense is bad but you can't say he hasn't improved our D..
Don Brown didn't exactly get a bunch of 5 star guys to work with. He most certainly improved our D. It's our offense that is killing us. We turned Temple over twice in the first half and couldn't score. And the FG kicker absolutely sucks. couldn't hit a 37 yard FG???
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
Okay, so we lost 28-0 and passed for a total of 80 yards. From a statistical standpoint, the good new is we improved our average points per game given up and improved our passing yards per game!
Now back to your regularly scheduled Saturday night dissection of the bad.

^ Didn’t watch the game, but aren’t team supposed to pad their passing stats in 20+ games as the prevent defense is the norm?
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
I’m following games as best I can. My question is! Last year , Merriweather was a bright spot. A beast. Why not just give him the ball ! We have no passing game. He’s the best athlete ????
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
I am not going to crush Casula for his play calling because he is handcuffed without being able to pass. In this offense you need a pass first QB who can run 4 or 5 times a game. Sure, Campiotti is a decent runner but maybe just 3-5 wildcat formations per game. I suspect Olson is ruined by what he went through last year and may not be a fit for this offense. Number one priority in December is to find a transfer, even if it is just a one year guy, who can do the job at QB and then hope Haston is the real deal to eventually take over (that said, i have not given up on the Watson III dream and the Heisman Trophy coming to Amherst).
As far as kicker goes, I think he is okay, but never let him kick more than a 45 yard fg again. The punter was servicable yesterday, but we need one of those for next year.
For the rest of this year, we need to focus on gradual improvement on Defense. Yesterday they had a good day, but Temple's O blows too so I would like to see them show signs over the next three games of being able to consistently hold teams under 30 . This is all we need to do be a team with a winning record in today's college football world (assuming issue #1 is resolved). I think Coach Brown knows what he is doing and we will end up more than serviceable on defense vs teams outside the top 40.
Stay the course boys and girls.. 2024 6-0 heading into epic game vs Mizzou...

Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
Said this in another thread. Merriweather was the offense last year. We are rushing for more yards this year per game while spreading out the carries. Also, Olson’s completion percentage was in the 40s and 30s by the end of the season last year. Gino completes a higher percentage believe it or not. The receivers look like they can read his ball in the air. And, the receivers also drop a lot. Running a game management/run based offense they need to score about four times a game and hold other teams to three scores.
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
I watched then listened to the second half on the radio. DB is trying and the kids (especially ZW) are playing hard. I know it sucks because we don't have a QB who can throw a damn pass. The D is actually pretty good. Our secondary has a couple guys who can play in the NFL: Noah Boykin and Jordan Mahoney and wouldn't be surprised if they get drafted like Isaiah Rogers. Do we get another win this year? Maybe. NMSU and UConn, especially UConn is a basketcase.
Re: 2022 Game 4: Temple
One issue I think the offense has is Campiotti holding onto the ball too much and not using his running backs enough. It looks to me like the line opens hole for the RB, and they go through untouched while Campiotti runs into a pileup.
If they want to have some designated QB runs why not spread everyone out and then run up the middle…like Temple did with Patterson, repeatedly for good gains.
