People gotta stay behind the program. Its a process, it wasn't going to flip over in one offseason. Gonna take a little time. Just improve week to week

Yes. Tulane’s record last year was not indicative of their level of play. They are likely an 5-7 win team in the AAC. They could over achieve. First game is out of the way. Now they know what to work on.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 11:49 amHe also needs players. Re: tulane game
Tulane's over/under win total was 6.. saw a lot of people go with the over. It's going to take some game action for Brown's defense to start to take hold.. it can be complicated with responsibilities ever changing. It takes time. The one thing I am worried about is QB play.. if we can improve there I think we are decent enough in other areas to have some positive growth this year. Can't overreact to game 1.. remember Rutgers a few years ago.. I came out of that game thinking we might be kinda good...

It can't get worse (can it?). Those were bad Pop Warner stats.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 1:50 pm The one thing I am worried about is QB play.. if we can improve there I think we are decent enough in other areas to have some positive growth this year.

The Rutgers game is my touchstone. Bell had no clue. DB does and will get the most out of the players instead of sticking to a formula.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 1:50 pm Tulane's over/under win total was 6.. saw a lot of people go with the over. Trust the process.

^ I'm old and the "process" doesn't mean what it used to!
I didn't notice this before but I think Coach wasn't too pleased with some of his reputedly higher rated guys that
didn't come to play!
“We have some guys that like to play the game. We have some guys who need to put both feet in the ground and decide they need to be great football players,” Brown said. “If they make that decision, it’ll help our development. If they don’t, we’ll go with the guys that do.”

The process has been going on for 10 years now. There's no more trust left in the tank.

Re: tulane game
I have no doubt that Brown will turn over the roster by next season if he doesn't see the effort or development from the players. It was nice not to hear any excuses from Brown after the game. Heard way too many the past three years...Just show improvement each week.tdmass wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 9:26 am ^ I'm old and the "process" doesn't mean what it used to!

Re: tulane game
17 yards passing between 2 QB’s for the game!!! Can someone explain me that?
Re: tulane game
Other than the second half of 2017 when we won 4 of 6, this “FBS football” thing has been a debacle. I’m sorry I’m trying to stay positive but what is the point of this other than make the school money and give coaches a job?
Re: tulane game
Zoo, it hasn't been pretty so far but if we gave up on hoops in the early 80's or even hockey not too long ago, we would have missed historical times for both programs. Did everyone expect to go undefeated this year? Its a rebuild, lets give it more than a game or a season. The staff looks strong, lets at least give them reasonable time to turn it around. It'll get better

Re: tulane game
I guess we should forget that the rise in the Public School rankings conicided with the move to FBS football? Yes, its about money...
Re: tulane game
SteveMaz and Floyd, I am total agreement that FBS and the big increase in USNWR rankings etc go hand in hand. Just google "UMass football crosses the rubicon" and you'll know what I am talking about. I'm just getting a little tired of the same 32 point losses (at least no shutout) and it's 2019 - 2021 again. Yeah we MIGHT get one or two wins this year.......probably one and it might not be over Stony Brook. I'm sorry, Don Brown is about as experienced a head coach as you are going to get before he's over the hill (can't physically do the job/call plays from the booth like Papa Joe at the end). Hoping for the best. We need a QB who can throw a football. Unless we are settling on the "game manager/Peyton Manning" type. I'm still going to donate $500 per win to the Gridiron Club for every win but realistically until we have Jonathan Taylor or Najee Harris or Derrick Henry in the backfield, we're screwed.
