2023 Recruiting

Post by 69MG » Mon Apr 11, 2022 4:26 pm

We got our first commit for 2023 so we are way ahead of where we were last year. If this was the "big news" posted by the coaches, it doesn't seem that big. As far as I can tell we are his only offer. Maybe Mike Traini has some inside info.

I'd say this was the "big news." I think folks are way over-analyzing that tweet. It's the first commit of the 2023 cycle, that is big news whether you believe the player in question is worthy of that moniker or not

Roberts is a big boy, has CFB bloodlines and is a coach's son. His older brother played for DB last year too

The UConn DB is in '22 of course and while that hasn't been announced on his end you could tell that was going to be an easy move once the offer came through

Read that he also attended the Arizona football camp. That means Coach Brown has met him, seen him and knows his brother and father. Good enough for me.

I see that UMASS is recruiting Isaiah Ragland from Centreville, VA. I've seen him play a couple of times. Last year they were a run-heavy offense and they gave him the ball all the time. The team was pretty good and looks to get better next year. If he commits, I'll make sure I see more of his games. FYI, his recruitment could be a sign that Alex Miller's influence down here is paying off. Miller starred at the next school over from C'ville.

My thoughts as well. This isn't just a quick recruitment of a kid who didn't have any FBS offers. Jyree is a kid Coach Brown has known for a while, knows the family and that's what played a huge role in earning this early commitment from a prospect in an area of the country that UMass needs to start recruiting more heavily.
