Anne Manning, the first F member of the GIC BOD, a true pioneer, sadly passed away a month ago at age 63.

I first met her at a football rah-rah event in Boston, attended by about 150 fans, of whom maybe 5 were female. Anne was there by herself and everyone else, except one, was ignoring her, as if she somehow did not belong there.
I reached out to her and we had a very pleasant conversation, as we did at future similar events in Boston & at Gillette. She was always there.
When Whip was rehired, Anne was at the UMass Boston Club Whip event.
I took it upon myself to introduced them, leaving them to chat.
Anne served on the same GIC Advisory Committee as I did along with others. When she spoke at BOD meetings we attended, it always was obvious that she was as sharp as a tack. Eventually, she was the first female appointed to the BOD.
Anne was bright, had a successful career at Wellesley College, and loved her UMass.
RIP Anne Manning.

Very sorry to hear this. Rest well, Anne.
