ESPN review of Independents.

Da'Shon Ross gets some love as one of the writer's Top 10 favorite players in independents, as does Gerrell Johnson on pass rush.

OK by me: :)

T'N'T College Football Podcast @TNTCollegeFoot 1· 7m
No 6 Zamar Wise and Gino Campiotti, UMass
Wise is a decent dual threat QB and Campiotti had a really good spring. This battle will last into the season. Both will be used and UMass is in good hands.

Very odd timing. He signed very late. Wonder if he didn’t make it through the clearinghouse or if he ever got to Amherst.

^ Or if someone tossed some NIL his way because of his name? That was my first thought.

^ Don’t the LOI rules prohibit a scholarship if you leave in this kind of situation. Nobody could talk to him, once he signed his LOI.
Whatever the circumstances, to the casual fan, and non-fan, this is the only UM recruit/player they know and he is gone before his first game.

^ It was pointed out on twitter that session one of summer school ended yesterday. Possibly score one point for academics as the reason.

whatever the reason, hearing of his leaving bummed me out.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

Yeah, that does stink, I was looking forward to having his dad mingling around campus. Oh well, overall a kicker recruit leaving doesn’t really change much. We march on.

Best of luck to AJ. He's a nice prospect who would've competed with Carson for a starting K job.

The worst researched preview that I have ever read (maybe not ever, but close). All he did was look at who is coming back. No mention of the transfers, who will play a major role.

Who knows what the rules are anymore, and NIL seems to make things worse. The word commitment is old school now, perhaps 'tagged' or "first choice' are better monikers. And who knows who is whispering in Dad's ear about better opportunities? Certainly, this is much looser than 'early decision' is for regular students.

Summer session 2 I believe starts next week. Also, AJ was a PWO so not sure if the rules are different than someone on scholarship. Then again, this is D1 football.

Saturday Blitz predicts us at 5-7. Vegas has our wins over under at 2.5. But Vegas has EVERYBODY at a min of 2.5. I honestly think 3-9; at least 2-10. It kind of sucks AJ Vinatieri bailed on us though. Would have been nice to have his dad in the stands.
