Looks like the Rent is falling apart already. Old McGuirk is still going strong since 1965!

UConn hired Jim Mora, he couldn't win enough at UCLA, do they really think he will win at UConn??? Strange hire. West Coast guy with no connections to the Northeast. Should be interesting to watch.

He went 46-30 at UCLA (a basketball school), and was the head coach of the Falcons in the mid-2000s. He knows how to recruit and is about as good a hire as UConn could have made. He's got a name.

I doubt many high school kids even know he coached the Falcons or UCLA. He was burned out his last three years at UCLA and his teams played soft. Just have a feeling that this won't go well for them--oh well!

4 out of 6 winning seasons at UCLA in the PAC-12 is super solid. If UMass can come even close to a big time hire like this we’d all be super stoked. Never want to root for UConn, but they went all in here for a program changer that has a name, gotta give it to them for taking that chance.

He started out strong with Neuheisel's recruits, but as his recruits took over, the team started losing and that's why he was canned. He doesn't have any of the luxuries that he had at the UCLA job with UConn--crappy players being number one! Its going to be a bad hire. They will be 1 - 11/2 - 10 next season and he won't take it well. He is a West Coast guy that won't be able to deal with the Connecticut press and a-hole fans.

^you can’t say that a successful 3rd and 4th year in college is due to a previous coaches recruits, cmon now.. and on top of that the previous coach had a losing record in all his 4 seasons at UCLA and you’re giving him all the credit for Mora’s success. Let’s just keep it a bit realistic here.

Neuheisel was a sleaze ball who could recruit but couldn't coach. Mora is not a good recruiter and it will show when he's at UConn--the guy is an a-hole (his words not mine) and that won't go over well in Connecticut...It will be fun to watch!

I'll be realistic: UConn just being UConn. Paid way too much for a football coach and the best part is Mora jr hasn't coached in 4 years. It'll be 5 years next Fall when he coaches a game. Edsall all over again.

Seems like an underwhelming hire, but if they ended up with Mora cause better candidates turned them down that doesn't bode well for us.
