Realignment board reminded me that AFA is also in Colorado. They'd be a more respectable option out of that state than CSU, so sub them in on that list. While it's still not the conference it once was, a Pac 12 with SDSU, AFA, and SMU in it is still worlds better than the AAC or MWC.e_parade wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:18 am At this point, if no one else leaves the PAC, they might just add SDSU and call it a day.
That's a big IF though.
If they're not going to get a good media deal either way, may as well see if they can expand up to 12, keep the existing members getting what they were going to get, and do partial shares for SDSU, Colorado State, and SMU

The problem is the basketball team is not and has not been good enough for conferences as the American that the administration would commit all sports. NOBODY, even CUSA when they were falling apart does not want Football ONLY. Thant my friend is the issue. So football is without a home and we are stuck in a A10 conference that looks nothing like, what we help found.PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:29 amWhy are we still in the A10?Steve81 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 10:43 pmGet your kicks in now. Why are we still there? Every founding public university is now in a power conference. Even Charlotte's athletic department felt it was best to leave and is now in the American. Most of the above teams made multiple stops. Stop looking at long shots and join the MAC.
2023 1 bid
2022 2 bid
2021 2 bid
2020 Covid but 2 bids would have been the max
2019 2 bids Only see VCU for an at large bid in 2019 https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-me ... ch-madness
2018 3 bids Bonnies had a a play-in win game.
2017 3 bids
2016 3 bids
2015 4 bids https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_NCAA ... tournament
2014 6 bids
When ever someone tries a cheap shot directed at football, will usually fire back with facts that they do not want to hear.
Cause no one wants football program in their conference. Outside of 2023 it is still at least one more bid than the awful macation. If Football was not such an embarrasment we would be in a conference by now, Steveo.
Revenue from the A10 is disappointing and does not merit staying
Re: Realignment: Texas/OK->SEC; UCF, BYU, Ciny,Houston->BigXII-dominos
2 wins this season AT LEAST. Sad to say but we had more wins in our first 4 seasons than in our most recent 4 seasons. Looking at my crystal ball, we'll be in a conference, maybe football only, in a couple years. Yeah the A-10 should be in our rear view mirror,,,,,,,PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:29 amWhy are we still in the A10?Steve81 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 10:43 pmGet your kicks in now. American would be a better basketball situation than the A10 at this point. A conference change might be what's needed to ignite the hoops program.Steve81 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 3:03 pmThe problem is the basketball team is not and has not been good enough for conferences as the American that the administration would commit all sports. But hopefully if there's more realignment (SMU is on PAC-12's radar apparently), UMass can be taken seriously as a candidate this time. Winning even 3 games this year would help but the AAC is running out of schools to raid as well and they might see UMass as a stronger candidate this time around than some of the other schools just based on the profile of the university.

I haven't been writing as much for CollegeSportsInfo.com the past few years. But with the Pac-12 falling apart, I thought it was a good time to look back at what could have been.
The real nail in the coffin for the PAC-12 was not the losses of USC & UCLA in 2022, it was in 2010, when the conference scoffed at Texas’ demands (Longhorn Network) and failed to grab the best Big 12 programs.

Regarding Army joining a conference, our games would be in jeopardy. Especially since we are both indy, the terms may make this one of the cheapest buoy outs for Army. Guess will see which of the Army opponents would reschedule with UMass. Like the MAC , but except for Toledo, not real found of the west division. Perhaps we'd get Rice instead. Not the same but scheduling as an Indy is not always fun.
https://sports.yahoo.com/army-could-be- ... 4-rtZw36E3Another hurdle is Army’s future football schedules. As an independent, the Black Knights have more than 80 games scheduled in the coming years, with a combined exit fee of more than $35 million, sources tell Yahoo Sports. The school has enlisted scheduling guru Dave Brown in an effort to break free of the agreements or reschedule the games. There is a possibility that Army’s scheduled opponents could conceivably play one another.

Midnight Ride NIL got some time with Charlie Baker for a few questions, realignment included

one possibility is a merger with the two Pac 12 teams and the Mountain West with two 8 team divisons for football. Speculation that North Dakota St and South Dakota St would be added. Why bother with two podunk schools? Look for UConn and Umass to be the two that are added.

Because ND State has good football. Football makes money.stevemaz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 5:33 am one possibility is a merger with the two Pac 12 teams and the Mountain West with two 8 team divisons for football. And ND State has around 14,000 enrollment and SD State around 13,000. So smaller, but hardly podunk.

I dont know? i think adding two top 25 public Universities is a better strategy.Uminuteman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:23 amBecause ND State has good football. I give you the NEW PAC 12
West: Oregon State, Wash St, Boise St, San Diego St, Colorodo St, UNLV, Fresno St, Gonzaga
East: UConn, UMass, Syracuse, St Johns, Villanova, Marquette, Xavier, Creighton
Football kills the big east for a second time..

You keep making up these fantasy conference affiliations every week and declare them like you actually know something - you are not getting Umass into a conference via some fan-boy manifest desitny statement making.
The BE is not breaking up for your latest imagination conference - if anything the ACC remnants and BE may combine and have a football and non-football division but even that is going to be a stretch - never mind schools that are 2K-3K miles away.
You are still missing the bigger point - NOBODY wants Umass Football - THEY SUCK. UConn is out for themselves and are not going to hitch their cart to UMass in any way and drag them even further backwards just to get into a football conference - and that is saying something because UConn Football sucks too! UConn is very happy whacking themselves off in the BE Hoops conference.
N O B O D Y W A N T S OUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM!
***********************************************************************
I KNOW - I AM DEBBIE DOWNER.... Whatever..... I see what I see and hear what I hear
I do get it, Umass needs to do something. So you tell me Steve - Do you really think people in the school are not / have not tried and are continuing to try? This shit isn't rocket science.
They have been Independent for too long - everyone affiliated with the program knows this - and that has stunted (to be kind) their ability to improve the program as a whole. The administration HAS TO BE looking for any conference alternative that will have them. There are not even rumors of talks let alone actual substantive discussion FFS.
I would love nothing more than for Umass athletics to find a home for all sports - even if it is the MAC. They desperately need a home, but Umass football is the ugliest girl at the bar, with herpes, no money, and hasn't showered in weeks. Nobody even last-call-drunk wants a piece of that at this point.
