To include transfers just go to the "Overall Team Rankings".

The Class of 2022 is #112 in HS Recruits, #57 in Transfers, and #99 Overall

I assume 65 P5 teams are higher than UMass and likely in the middle of the G5.

Last year we were #116 overall and last (7th) among independents.

247 Sports has the class at 112. Last year’s class was 116. Is everyone really going nuts over 4 spots?

Yes. Personally I expected us to be ranked last or 2nd to last based off of what has happened over the last few years. So this, in addition to where the transfers put us, gets me a touch excited.

And why it is again that you are having such an issue with the new staff? All you've done is shit on things since Bell was let go and Brown brought on. This is officially a trend now.

Except the rank is based on 30 commits. Campbell is ranked at 98 with less commits. NM State is 93 with less

And a lot of the guys don't have rankings yet.. its a flawed system. I look at it as we recruited a lot of needs for the team with some potentially impactful players. It will be about coaching and player development. We are in a much better place with that now than we have been in a long time. This staff is full of winners at all levels of football. Thats important.

For the first time since the move up to FBS, I finally feel like we look and are operating as an FBS team. The talent that has been brought in is now at least up to par with our peer institutions and looks like, on paper, that we should be able to legitimately compete against P5 teams without fear of being blown out or seriously injured.

I'm also digging the "SLAMherst" moniker. I'm sure that one of our Marketing folks can figure out how to turn that into a slogan or t-shirt for the defense...

I'm sure the anti-ZooMass crowd will find a way to poo-poo this too.

How did you navigate to this page from the 247 site?

Very happy with the players brought in. There are guys that will impact the defense right away. I agree that with the large number of transfers a better gauge is to look at the overall rankings mentioned previously. In those rankings (99). We were not only better than Uconn but better than 9 MAC schools. Great job by coaches especially coming in last minute.

The rightmost dropdown menu starts as "Recruit" but you can change it to both "transfer" and "overall"

If you're talking in general, go to the 247 main page, and the "FB Recruiting" drop down has a "Team Rankings" selection that will take you to the link I put in here.

I'm trying to figure out (guess?) how many of the recruits will be impact starters next year. That's what's most important to me as far as the team showing immediate improvement. Probably 6 or 7 of the transfers and maybe 2 freshmen. That, combined with better coaching and expected development of the better returning players should make us a better team.

I'm not going to predict wins until I see the quarterback situation resolve itself. That's still the most important position on the field, even for a run first team. If there's no threat in the passing game it's hard to run.

Up to 92 overall and 41 in transfers. Up 7 spots overall and 16 in transfers only. Good stuff.

The highest UMass has ever been on 247 is #86 in 2016. It'll be interesting if they can top that all-time-high this year.
I don't think transfers were included back then. But maybe JuCo were? Because Andrew Ford is on the 2016 list.
