Wow, fantastic! All are wonderful additions. I'm particularly impressed by Gooden, who has a big body with long arms and really seems to have some skills. Very exciting!

His twitter page says he runs a 4.38 40. That's not Isabella fast but probably faster than anyone else on the team (if it's accurate).Fight Massachusetts

Former Central Catholic and Belmont Hill star ATH Gregory Desrosiers Jr has committed to UMass as a transfer from Louisville
Desrosiers was on an unofficial visit to UMass this past weekend. He walked-on at UL but should be on scholarship with UMass. Should have 4 years to play
Re: 2022 Recruiting
Thought we already knew about Derosiers? I was hoping for a new name. He could be a good get but was not a scholarship recruit at Louisville. He was a walk on. Had numerous FCS offers out of High School.
Re: 2022 Recruiting
Looks like a transfer from Florida State- Marcus Cushnie. Went to Alabama A&M then FSU.
You can't say Brown isn't using the transfer portal to the max.

DB is better at bringing guys over from FSU than Walt Bell was.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I feel like so far DB has built a good base of recruits with a few guys that could be really good. He has done a great job in a short amount of time. Our D-line will be deep and has a chance to be very good. Still concerned about the lack of speed on offense, and depth/talent at LB, but a few of the new recruits may help solve that. QB will also be interesting because I think they really want a QB that can run a bit so we will see how that shakes out. There are still a couple potential "big gets" out there. Fingers crossed DB can deliver.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
Agree they could still use some weapons on O. Not sure if any of the receivers or tight ends currently on the roster can be a #1 target on a decent team. Rico Arnold showed some flashes and I think he can be solid, but the rest can't be counted on for big production at this point.
Thinking to last year, the O was probably good enough to win them a few more games. I don't think they lose to URI or Maine with a middle of the pack FBS defense. Eastern Michigan was probably winnable if the D played really good in that one. So if the UMass defense is a ton better in 2022, which we all expect it will be, that should make the offense look better by default.
Personally I'm not sold on any of the current QBs leading the team in 2022, but I could certainly be wrong on that. Maybe Olson looks a lot better with a another year of experience and a more stable program. I guess Olson's future depends on if Casula wants him to be the guy.
A solid D and good run game behind Merriweather/Adams/decent O-Line should remove the "laughingstock" label off the program.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I think between the coaching, talent, and easier schedule the D is going to take a huge statistical jump. The front 7 has a chance to actually be very good. We still need some LB's I think. I'm with you and are not sold on the QB's we have yet. It will be interesting to see what direction they go in. I'm guessing they aren't sold either since they brought in a JUCO kid that was recruited by D2 schools.
Re: 2022 Recruiting
My guess is that we'll only see a few more recruits before Signing Day. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see the staff leave 5 or 6 scholarships open to see what they have after Spring practice. There will almost certainly be guys who transfer out and there will also be attractive candidates to transfer in when they hit the Portal after their Spring practice. Certainly seems like a good strategy.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I think it will be a shock to many of the current players with the change from Walt Bell to Don Brown. Brown is an old school, tough love type of a coach and Bell couldn't be anymore different. Many of the current defensive players don't fit Brown's defense philosophy of lighter, fast, physical, football smart (not taking dumb penalties) players. The current DL is fat and slow, LBs/CBs are slow and soft. Other then Wooden, not one current defensive player looked like a Don Brown type of player. Hopefully under Brown's staff, they can find some more!
