2022 Recruiting
Made the top 7 for three star running back Sam Martin Jr. out of NJ. 247 composite has him as the 12th best player in the state.
"Minutemen are the only G5 team to make Martin's top group thanks to new RBs coach Savon Huggins (@CoachSHuggins) leading his UMass recruitment"

This kid is a high character individual --- find a spot for this kid if he wants to come to UMASS--- would be a good addition to the team!TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 7:12 pm Emmanuel Nda, Pittsfield HS 2021, tweeted that he was a guest of UM football this Saturday. In one of the most bizarre things I have seen, we just got a WR recruit. He's in prep school this year, originally from North Carolina.

guessing he will pull back now, since the staff that recruited him will be gone...

We just had a bunch of guy commit... will be interesting to see what happens with whoever the new coach that we cannot speculate on is. Hopefully with Miller (likely) sticking around, that will help in some cases.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

To me, it looked like he posted at 10AM on the 6th, before Bell was canned. Either way, hope he sticks.

Isaiah Major has decommitted. To be honest, not bummed out at all. At the time of his commitment, his only other offer was from a D2 school
Re: 2022 Recruiting
On Saturday night I attended the Centreville VA High game against Chantilly (Alex Miller's alma mater). Centreville won big 42-25. If Miller can start recruiting from the schools in No. VA., he will have made a major upgrade to the talent level at UMASS. I am always stunned and amazed at how big and organized No. VA. high school football is compared to Massachusetts. Centreville has a great artificial turf stadium with an artificial turf practice field.
Centreville gets sponsors from all kinds of businesses for their program and the football games are big events. Throughout the stadium, there are 3'x4' pictures of Centreville athletes, cheerleaders, and band members like the thumbnails of the UMASS athletic pages paid for by these sponsors. During the game they made an announcement that if you used a particular real estate agent that when your house sold they would donate $1,000 to the football team. The thing is, that Centreville has old facilities compared to its rivals Chantilly and Westfield. I drive by their schools and am in awe. The challenge Miller has is that this is prime recruiting grounds for Virginia, VA. Tech, NC, NC state, and lots of other programs. A couple of years back UMASS did have a running back recruit from Stone Bridge but he transferred to VA. Tech as a walk-on.
How Miller actually wound up at UMASS is rather surprising since he was 2nd team All state in his senior year. Given the depth of talent in Virginia, this was a major accomplishment.
I wish him good luck in this recruiting cycle and hope he can grab a few talented players from the DMV.
