Looks like he took the bullet for Harbaugh at Michigan

Yeppers. Still a highly regarded DC that should have no problem landing on his feet at another P5 program.

We know that Bell won't be fired before the end of next season so does Don take a D Coordinator/Associate Head Coach position? I would love to have him and his aggressive defensive style. Yes, his D gets burned once in a while but it's a lot more fun to watch than passive D.

Don Brown could say he would come here to be the HC for free and Bamford wouldn't hire him.. Plus if he wants to stay in coaching he will get a P5 DC job

Just saw this and if Don wanted to, we could afford him. Think DK and LIU.

Michigan football reportedly fires defensive coordinator Don Brown. He will be owed buyout of a little more than $1.7 million, subject to duty to mitgate with offset. He'd been Big Ten's highest-paid assistant -- by $300,000.

Not surprising. Good Guy, used to see him in a few local watering holes on the outer cape in the summer. Glad he's getting paid. It will be interesting to see what he will do next. He will certainly have multiple options.

His agent is hard at work, as we speak.

Glad he gets to take a lot of their money! Honestly, I feel like he may need to step back and take a break, if not retire. He looked really burned out this season and last. He would never get along with Bamford! DB is as too real for an ass kisser like Bamford.

Don Brown is probably the only chance that UMass has to save its football program in my remaining lifetime. And there's no chance we can get Don Brown.

There are a few P5 coordinator jobs open. Auburn, Arizona come to mind. If I was Indians or NW I’d bring him in today. Love when these coaches get a chance at retribution in conference.

Why would Brown come here, at his age/salary needs/the need for a total rebuild/seeing what happened with Whipple/no conference prospects, etc?

If I were he, I'd look to be the DC at Arizona, which just hired the QB coach for the Pats. Nice weather and in a P5 conference.

Please stop advocating for former UMASS coaches and assistant coaches to lead UMASS. It didn't work with Whipple, Bruiser or Kellogg. UMASS needs to find coaches who want to be here (at least for a little while). Clearly Brown did not want to be here anymore (great while he was in Amherst). As far as I am concerned he is dead to me. Good luck to him wherever he goes but I hope it is not UMASS.
