2021 Season
Re: 2021 Season
Starting the season with a strong P5 team leaves its marks. After week 1, rom Frank's blog "The Hampshire Gazette report CB Bryson Richardson is "doubtful" for the BC game, QB Tyler Lytle is a "game day decision" and so is starting guard Reggie Marks." Much rather open the season with an FCS squad and go through the learning process with new players and combinations.
Go UMass!!
Re: 2021 Season
I know Lytle was getting knocked around in the Pitt game but it wasn't like he got body slammed onto his throwing shoulder. Maybe it's a good thing to save him for a game we could possibly win like EMU, UConn or URI/Maine.Steve81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 7:48 am Starting the season with a strong P5 team leaves its marks. Re: 2021 Season
After Hockey won the National Championship, I feel like this is all gravy: let the football team do its thing and if we win a game or two, its all good. Still say one win saves Bell's job. 0-12 and he will be gone. The buy out is 1.2M. 1-11 and he'll be back.
Re: 2021 Season
He needs to win both FCS games to save his job
Re: 2021 Season
Can we pull off a Jacskonville State? Or will FSU unfortunately have their act together by the time we get there in October.

Moved up one slot on The Athletic 130 to 125!
Re: 2021 Season
Don't have a subscription there, who are the ones below us other than UCONN?
Also, took a look at the updated predictions on ESPN. We are currently projected to win 4 games this year:
NMSU: 52.5% chance
Rhode Island: 69.8%
Maine: 71.1%
UCONN: 81.4%
Outside of those, our best current odds are for next week's game against EMU: 20%.
Probably it's because they're 1-1...but their 1 win came against an 0-2 NEC team.

Bell just ROASTED the Department/University Admin for their student tailgate decision to reporters.

CSU
NMSU
UConn
Akron is ahead of us but they are playing Bryant this week and Bryant should beat them.

I get why we have fans who don’t like him but I really am a fan. Fingers crossed we keep building this season.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 3:34 pm Bell just ROASTED the Department/University Admin for their student tailgate decision to reporters.

Re: 2021 Season
The students don't even go into the games after they leave the student tailgating! He needs to win some games this season before throwing any stones, at anyone from UMass.
Of course if this gets students to go into the games from the tailgating--I'm all for his comment.

Re: 2021 Season
The students filled up their section on the home side and seats for season ticket holders that stayed home due to covid. 6 out of the the 8 stayed home from our tailgate group. Three people, who sit behind me also stayed home. Those students not only came in but stayed. It was Boston College and a good game to watch.

Considering the opponent, 1st game of the year, 1st game with fans in 2 "seasons" and the weather, I suspect more would have initially gone into the game. If as many would have stayed as had, that's a different debate.
And yes, winning cures all, we know this already. His general point about the ridiculously stupid decision isn't wrong.

Re: 2021 Season
Ranked 129 this week in the USA Today! UConn is 130 at the bottom. The game in two weeks will be the Toilet Bowl of the season! Bamford said that Bell would get us to a bowl....
